FIRST, the ferret shelter in Vancouver BC closed at the end of 2012!! They are the closest shelter to my city (about 2 hours away by ferry) and I saw on their website today that at last update they were desperate for foster homes. I do have a big business if five, but they have their very own room now so I could open up my home for some temp fuzzballs! However I got a heartbreaking email saying the shelter and organization had completely shut down All i can think of is what happened to all the ferrets desperate for homes?? Does anyone in the area know of a similar place I could help out?

I'm not surprised they shut down, they seemed to have a hard time getting along with people. Alot of people I know, had bad experiences with the people running it. ABC Ferret Rescue is on the mainland just not sure exactly where. www.abcferretrescuesociety.com They also have a fb page

Ah. If you are talking about F.I.R.S.T., then I agree. Nasty, nasty people.

Yup that's the one. My best friend had a rescue and use to do house checks for them here on the island. A couple of years ago there was a suspected case of ADV on the mainland. So my friend sent an email to warn them, well the email she got back was unbelievable, the vile, profane names they called her was very upsetting. They were a rescue I vowed never to support or donate to.
