Ok, so typically I don't do vaccines. But I'm considering getting rabies for both my babies, once they're older. More for my peace of mind that someone doesn't come chopping their head off if they nibble on someone.
Anyhow, can someone give me pros and cons and anything I would need to know specifically about ferret rabies vaccines.

So about rabies in particular, it should be good for the life of your pet once you get it.
The con is risk of reaction. The chances of your ferret getting rabies is slim to none. They have to be bitten by a rabid animal to get rabies. If you're doing it for the purposes of the law, you'd probably have to vaccinate yearly, which is really unnecessary and harmful to the pet.
Pros are your pet is protected in case they do get bitten by a rabid animal. And they are probably not going to get put down if they happen to bite someone.

... they are probably not going to get put down if they happen to bite someone. This is the only reason I'm considering vaccines, thanks for the links. I'll do some more thinking on it.

I don't know if the law is different in Edmonton, but here in Calgary, if my ferret bites someone, and that person complains to the city, my ferret WILL be confiscated and destroyed for testing. No option, no quarantine, nothing. In a pet store last year, and entire litter of kits was almost destroyed because some a$$hole wanted to see one of them, that kit nipped, and he started screaming about rabies, called the city, city sent bylaw officers down. They finally came to a compromise because the kits were only 9 weeks old. They had to be isolated for 2 weeks, with only licensed techs allowed to feed, water, and clean up. They weren't even supposed to touch the kits til that time was up Had they not been too young for the vaccine, they'd have been confiscated and destroyed

If you don't vaccinate s ferret where I live and the ferret bites someone (and they call the authorities) off with their head. They literally chop the poor ferret's head off and send it for testing. This is why I don't bring my ferrets around guests/ strangers. I hate people.
