Thank you guys your all so nice Sherry: they charge $55 for the Lupron now (used to be $45) I'm glad I never had to pay $100 for that one! Yes the total was $210 with taxes. They wanted to do a blood panel test but I said no. She's happy and healthy and it wouldn't matter what the test would come back as cuz I'd still get the implant. She was fine with the Lupron so I figured she would be fine with this one. Lulu is so strong and very wiggly so when they scruffed her, they bruised her neck slightly and they had to make 2 attempts at the implant cuz she was moving around so much so theres 2 bloody spots She didn't want anything to do with ferretone lol but she looks so sore poor girl. So with this implant, should I see results within a couple months kinda thing? As in her hair growing back and her vulva going down.

Oh and also...what can I do about her super dry skin at the moment? It's so dry and when I rub her it's flaky.

I've used a teeny bit of olive oil rubbed into spots with good results. As long as you don't over do it, it gets into the skin nicely and doesn't just sit on the surface and get nasty (also, I think I need to have a talk with my vet, Anya's des. cost almost $400 JUST for the implant and not anything else. The price hike has me :\ ) Oh, I've also used AVix soother spray, it works great, but olive oil's just cheaper

Don't know if it works the same in adrenal ferrets, but I saw a reduction in my intact females vulva (she was in season) within days. About a week and it was fully down.

They wanted to do a blood panel test but I said no OMG this is hilarious! THEY are the ones who originally told me how useless the panel was ;D

Ok I just checked Lulu's skin where the des implant is and I can feel it and move it around in there! Is that normal?? I've never felt it like this before and I check it every day, but today I can literally move it around under her skin. It's about a centimeter big...and kinda gross lol But is that normal for me to see it and feel it like that??

I just leave mine alone. Depending on how loose the skin is across the neck and shoulders will tell how much motion you should have with the implant. I just ignore them. It's the same as a chip, just leave it alone. ciao

It is normal to feel the implant. I had my Mika implanted almost a year ago and I can still feel it (although it does get smaller over time). It is nothing to worry about. I found the best thing for dry skin was a 100% colloidal oatmeal soak. I was able to get this at walmart in the drugstore section. I would soak mika for about 10-15 mins depending on how long she would be patient for. She actually got to the point where she would completely relax and rest her head on my arm. (I held her so she was sitting on her "bum" and my hand held her upper body) I found the oatmeal helped drastically, because for Mika that was really her only symptom of adrenal.

Ok good...I thought something was wrong. I was getting these images in my head of it moving all over her back or move to fifferent spots...Her skin is pretty loose so that's probably why I can see and feel it. Phew I feel better now...I was getting a sick feeling thinking they didn't put the implant in right or something. I'm going to look for that oatmeal soak as well and try that. She's not as flaky and dry as before but ill try this stuff and see if it helps a bit.

Feeding an oil supplement should help too. Slamon, fish, or EVO 3 times a week.

I'm trying to get deslorelin in Canada (BC to be exact) but my vet is unable to get it (he's tried calling them and was told that they don't sell to canada). I've also tried to contact rwarren@peptech but the email is no longer valid.
Would anyone be willing to let me know how their vet was able to get it or their vet's contact information so that my vet can figure out how to get the implant?

Where are you in BC? My implants just came in today. So.... yes they do ship to Canada. But there is alot of paperwork. Your vet has to get an emergency drug release for them to sell to canada. It's kinda a pain in the butt.... which is probabaly why most vets don't even try.

Just remember that you cannot order from the US, you have to order direct from Australia. You have to apply for your special import licence. It takes a bit of time and your vet has to release reasons for importing and some personal information about the clinic they work for. Once the paper work is done it's very easy to import. I just got my implants last week. I have two boys going in for DES on Wed. ciao

I'm in the lower mainland (Surrey to be exact). I've tried calling pretty much all the ferret vets, but if anyone knows of a vet somewhat nearby that has access to it, that would be great.
My vet is willing to do the paperwork and has tried for me before but can't find where to get the paperwork. Does anybody know where to get information on how to get the implant imported? Maybe a contact in australia that I can call?

Send a message to Darlene. She on the island, but her vet gets them in for her. She can give you the contact info for your vet to call hers.
