copied post* -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ash 1050g 1cube of soup with meat slivers Stool is tarry but good consistent with brown and black color. He has normal activity
Luna 780 g Eats 1 cube soup with small meat chunks. Stool is tarry with some greenish slime. Very hyper activity.
So a couple days ago I started giving them a plate to eat from and not their bowl.. I noticed they would not eat but the stuff on the edge lol.. so when I changed back to their bowl and they are eating just fine. All kibble has been pulled. They are now on slivers and small chunks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok....looks like Ash has lost a little weight. But both are starting to get used to their diet as their output has improved. That's good. One thing to note is that muscle tone will change too as their bodies get more used to their diet. They will loose fat but gain more muscle. Is Ash eating well or is he still being picky? Luna is actually putting one weight so she appears to be settling in nicely. ciao

According to his last vet visit no. He has grown 99% of the hair back since he has been in our care. At this point it's being linked to improper care and neglect. My stepmother who was a vet tech is getting with a vet to see if he has experience with ferrets and we will see what he says. She also agreed that it was from very poor environment. I am not so sure myself.

On the bright side after cuddle time and hand feeding he went straight to the bowl for more when he went into the cage. I am doing i guess you can say extra small chunks. They love it frozen!

Got to love them...maybe a bit of extra attention will help. I didn't want to upset you, just that I took a wee boy in today who looked very similar to your guy. It could be very poor care. I've rescued a couple of starving furkids who looked horribly rough and looked even worse when they started to shed out to put their new super beautiful raw coat on. Frozen...no accounting for taste ;D ciao

Ohh no not upset at all i think it's highly possible and i am looking for a second opinion. I am so new to owning ferrets but i am quite a researcher lol.. i want a real diagnosis .. even if it say yes he is adrenal. I want him cared for fast and effectively. I actually started melatonin with both fuzzys today. About 8 hours after sunrise. I have the time wrote down so it doesn't mess them up. I have read mixed opinions on the melatonin, i just say i might as well try rather than give up like his last parents. As soon as my youngest starts school i plan to study to be a vet with exotic knowledge. My heart has been with animals since i was young. My father rescues dogs and i had a rescue pup and now the ferrets. I actively search for these type of animals to help them live longer.. the animals most people won't adopt because they have health problems, too old Sent from my Motorola Electrify using proboards

And so forth.. the ones that animal shelters list as hard to adopt out or unadoptables. I have had people say negative things about me for adopting and rescuing. My cousin actually said a few days ago.. why would you want such a high maintenance animal (ferrets) i said it depends on how you look at it.. i find its love and not maintenance.
