@yurie - Ahhhh yes, I think Chell and Mischief would play SO WELL together! Does she also have an *unusual* way of play? None of my other boys quite understand Mischief and his zaniness - he just has such an unusual way of playing that the others can't do much more than stare at him when he gets going. He throws himself about, runs and bumps into EVERYTHING, he throws himself down, hops and bounces SIDEWAYS, and CONSTANTLY throws himself down to itch while riled up. Whats worse (and is possibly the culprit to his bad health right now) is that Mischief either doesn't *get* how to use the ramps in his 142 or he simply doesn't bother to use them and he either rolls, falls, or throws himself down each level It is the worst when he throws himself OUT of the cage from the first level shelf. We have put up different height boxes to serve as steps for the boys, and we even line the tops with blankets, but still Mischief manages to fall/roll down each step in turn from the shelf before landing at the bottom and running into something on his way out. I just don't know how to fix this behavior to keep him from hurting himself further.

Only thing I can think of is cutting the 4" black drainage tubing to fit the ramps and attaching that. Since most will use a tube given a chance, it might help.

Chell is a very playful animal- but she hardly ever plays because none of the other ferrets "get" her and want to play with her usually. She generally only plays with me when I can wind her up. Sometimes she just gets set off by something randomly and bounces around tackling other weasels attempting to play with them. They either play back a bit and then run away or just go and hide, poor girl.
Luckily she gets ramps and uses them, but she likes to jump off of high things thinking she can make it and climb things -especially people.

Ferreholic- the way that Mischief plays? Picture that, but happening on TOP of other ferrets he runs across and you've got Cody ;D He flips and flops until he accidently lands on top of one of them, then starts rolling and bouncing ;D

Yes, Waardies are crazy lil handfuls (to put it nicely) Mini-Update: The Weenie-headedness - So, when I went to clean out Mischief's litter-box last night he HAD to get out of the cage (can't blame him, he'd been locked in there for over 12 hours). Well, I let him out for a second and what do I find - I walk into the bathroom and there he is pouncing on Tak trying to get him to play, then he jumps off of him and rightly smacks himself right into the toilet basin I swear, that boy is going to be the death of me. I RAN to him, picked him up as gently as I could, checked him over, all only to get wiggles and frustration and the NEEEEED to be let down again. OH NO YOU DON'T I told him and promptly put him back in the cage. Of course he hated that and cage-raged for a bit, so I gave him some RR and he finally went back to sleep. He seems to be fine this morning, so hopefully he didn't do any more damage to himself The Kinda Bad-Kinda Good - So 2 days later and Mischief is sleeping A TON, almost all day. Granted, I am keeping him locked in a smaller cage for the majority of the day with the cage covered, but I'm shocked that he isn't cage raging - he REALLy hates being locked up for long. I'm really happy he is resting and healing, and REEEAAAALY happy he is allowing it, but his sleepiness is concerning as he is normally such an active fert. True, the meds could be making him xtra sleepy, but I am still gonna be the concerned Mom, especially since I'm going away for a week next week (don't worry though, my BF will be home with the boys - I wouldn't leave them if he wasn't). The Good - When Mischief does get some time out of the sick-cage he is walking around fine In 2 days time he has gone from not being able to walk, to kinda being able to walk, to walking around fine. However, I don't think he can jump or climb well right now - mostly because he hasn't really tried and he normally LOVES to do things that scare his Momma But we are also limiting what he is allowed to do and how long he is allowed to stay out of the cage, so he may just be too tired to try. We shall see how things go in a few more days. If he is still doing well by Sunday I might let him start sleeping in the big cage again with his brothers (it will have been 4 days since he couldn't walk by then - the doc said to give him 3-5 days to heal).

He sounds like he's almost back to normal And yes, the metacam will do that to him. Between the pain meds and boredom he'll be sleeping a ton.

Glad he is doing better. I wouldn't be too concerned about the sleeping. He is bored.
