BLAH!!! So Bandit and Pogo have gone thru bad spells with their poopies on the raw, so APPARENTLY now it is Mischief's turn! For the past few days he has been having small, thin poopies, and starting last night he is pottying frequently and only putting out small amounts of mucous (sometimes with a little normally poopie in it but mostly just clear or green mucous). To make matters worse, I've been having a hard time feeding him (he just doesn't want to eat) and over the past couple of days the amount he is eating is decreasing. Yesterday I did give him a large tablespoon of pumpkin (and while I was at work) my BF told me that he did 4 large pumpkin poopies. HOWEVER, when I got home I saw a tiny, very thin poopie where he always likes to go. BUT, his energy levels are normal (he plays and is alert and aware) and he seems to be happy and in no discomfort. I just don't know what to think about this. I'm not gonna be too worried about the poopies (considering what I've been thru and come out the other side with concerning Bandit and Pogo's poopies), but him not wanting to eat really bothers me. Even if I add a little ferretone or pumpkin and even if I had feed him he STILL won't eat. Should I be as concerned about this as I am???
have you tried making him a warm liquid mush ? ( simply place a little raw meat in a blender with egg shell( or bonemeal) a hard boiled egg and a little warm goats milk or better still kitten replacer milk ) blend and serve often they will eat it better when warm and when they don't have to chew it you may have to feed him this way for three or four days ( gradually make it thicker ) but it will feed him and keep him hydrated along with giving him the vits and minerals he needs good luck take care bye for now Bev

acodlin - we thought our other 2 boys had bacterial infections but they were clear after a thorough fecal. No, I don't have carafate. Is this something I can get over-the-counter or is it by prescription only? Can ferts take this stuff whenever or are there limits?
@sherry - over the past week he was eating about 7oz a day. The past couple of days he is in between 3-4oz. This morning he simply would not eat. He would lick my soupie finger and eat the pumpkin I put in it, but he wouldn't eat the soup. BUT...
UPDATE - I was FINALLY able to get a couple of ounces in Mischief this afternoon. After Bandit and I got back from the vet I attempted to feed Mischief again, and again he wouldn't do more than lick my soupie finger (I even tried to feed him in his cage which he LOVES). He ran from me for about 15 min til I decieded to try something new - I gave him a taste of ferretone, put his nose towards the bowl, put a drop of tone on the soupie, and away he went! I guess he is just being a prima-donna
crazylady - My boys are on raw soupie (still in switch mode) and I always nuke it in the microwave since they don't seem to like it refriderator cold. I haven't tried the egg or the goats milk though. Other than making the soupie more desirable do these 2 ingredients do something more for ferts - I guess I'm asking if I should be adding this in normally to begin with? I tried giving my boys raw eggs before and they don't seem to like them, but I haven't tried hard-boiled ones.
You could do kaopectate or peptobismal to coat his stomach and soothe it instead of carafate. I usually give pepto .25 every 6 hours for a couple of days if I suspect stress/upset stomachs. It seems to always help. Hopefully all is okay now with him. Fingers are crossed!
Could these little ones have picked up a virus. It almost sounds like they may have picked some sort of flu bug or they've got a hairball. It just seems odd that they're all sick with the same or similar symptoms ciao

I'm sure it is possible. Both myself and my BF are bartenders so we are around a lot of people all the time. If it is a virus or bug of some sort, can they get over it on their own? Pogo is doing better, but he has been on Amoxi for 10 days. Mischief is now starting to act funny. And Bandit was the first with these same symptoms, got the all clear from the vet, and finally got over it - BUT his poopies still REEK though he isn't passing mucous anymore.
To help with the wierd poopies Sherry recommended I cut back on the organ meat in their soupie a bit and this really seems to have helped (thank you Sherry ), but this hasn't been their only problem.
But I don't know what they would have gotten. Any ideas? Can or should I do anything for them???

Wow you ladies are chock full of info. Where do you find all this stuff???? I think if I had have ferts for a couple of decades I STILL wouldn't know all these things to give ferts like you ladies do. As it is I've only had my boys for 4 years, and I thought I knew a fair amount about these little ones. I was so very very wrong And now when it comes to the raw I'm apparently at a total loss.
Anywho, sorry for the rant I see that this Vibactra is from a company based out of CA. How safe is this stuff? Are there certain ferts (like sickies) that you can't give things like this too? Can I get these products in any stores or only online?
Thanks for the info!!!
PS - I know this is a bit off topic, and I know you experienced ladies are super busy, but if any of you (and any others who have pertenent info) ever have the time to make a thread that lists all products used on/for ferts and their benefits/effects/reasons for using them it would be greatly beneficial to people like me who are still learning!
