So I have FINALLY found an amazing wholesaler for my meat I went and bought 70kg today.. check out everything I got! 5kg chicken mince 5kg beef mince 5kg roo mince 5kg turkey mince 5kg beef hearts (which is only 4 hearts - they are HUGE! I had never seen one before haha) 12kg chicken necks 15kg chicken wingtips 5kg roo fillets 5kg lamb flaps 5kg chicken thighs 67kg of meat He then threw in 1kg beef fillets and 2kg of lamb offcuts Thus 70kg of meat for........ $130....... You heard right! SEVENTY KG OF MEAT FOR ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY DOLLARS!! I nearly fell flat on my face when he told me that!! My last shop was $195 and that was for 45kg of meat and fed my 8 ferrets for 6 weeks, I am expecting this to last at least 2 months - I am continuing to chop it all up tomorrow and will let you all know how long it lasts

Just a quick tip from a former Chef that might make things easier for those butchering a large amount of meat for their raw fed fuzzbutts.
To make things MUCH easier when doing kitchen work with a knife...you always want your cutting board to be 1" longer than your longest knife when laying the knife across the cutting board on the diagonal. So lay the knife on the board in the centre with the tip pointing at one corner and the handle pointing at the opposite corner. There should be 1" from tip of the knife to the first corner and 1" from the bottom of the handle to the other corner. This will always give you plenty of room to work and prevent your work area from always feeling cramped.

Holy turds, that is an awesome price. I'm with Yurei here, so jealous, and I just started to think I was getting some good prices on my meat.
Thanks for the tip bitbyter!!

Lol I don't know how many of you watch a lot of youtube, but I do and my kids do. Have you ever seen something called a "haul" video? It's where people go shopping for whatever hobby they have (toy collecting, makeup/nail polish, craft supplies, etc.) We should totally start a thread with haul videos of meat! ;D

I have never made on of my own but I have thought about it as a future thing for my clay figure business.

LoL I cant see that lasting very long not once those kits have to be fed four times a day lol ( mom and her 8 babies are going to go though 1kg every 2 days ! lol ) from the age of 3 weeks then you have another two litters to hit the ground yet I think you will be visiting your butcher again pretty soon lol you will have arm muscles like superman from all the chopping by the time all three litters are 12 weeks old lol take care bye for now Bev

Bev, I am aware of that, my jills start their bubbas on raw at about 2.5-3wks old. They will be getting fed twice a day and a total of 1kg of meat each litter, I've done it numerous times now, i would know Yeah it is fabulously cheap!! Im still shocked hahaha!! Have just woken up (its 9am Sat morning) and im about to drive to my mums and check on everyone and start chopping up more meat, I only got to 2 weeks of meat before it got tiring and I needed to eat, drink and have a smoke haha

What a score! Was it an independant wholesaler or a chain? I'd love to find something like that up here! So far we buy from markets

Oh you lucky thing I haven't found a place like that here yet, I haven't been looking lately though. Right now I get 3kgs and 12 carcasses for about $15 or about 15kg and carcasses for $25. Depends whether I go to my Asian market or not but I've held off lately cause of the quality. Especially now that summer is closing in
