So I've seen and heard about people making covers for the Ferret Nation shelves. I'm having a hard time figuring out if you cover the plastic cover and the shelf together, or if people are removing the plastic cover and just sliding a cover on the metal shelf. Also how would you connect the ramps if fleece is covering the edges?
Hopefully that makes sense ;D

I think it depends on which shelf you have. There are two different types. One in a pan that sits on a metal rack. Kinda like the main floor pans.
The other is a thin sheet of black that fits into a metal rack. Does that make sense?

The pan just sits on top, but its not a metal grate like on the bottom floors, it's more open.

They've really changed those from the ones that I have. I just use pillow cases (I'm lazy ) That won't work for these ones ciao

This what I've been using. This is a sleep blanket I made years ago,it works perfectly with the new shelves. The sleep blanket was easy to make just figure out the size you want, sew the seam and voila a shelf cover. Both ends are open, slip the pan shelf in and press it back down on the wire rack. Very easy and works great ;D And if you use fleece the ends won't need finishing. My sleep blanket measures 18.5"x22.5"(finished size) that doesn't include the seam allowance.

I was going to be all crafty and make actual covers but when it came down to it it was much easier to cut/fold the fleece to size and just lay it on top of the shelf and tuck some of the extra under the shelf. Remus has been fine with that but he's weirdly mellow about pretty much everything.

You can also get pillow case style covers. They have an opening in the back that allows the brackets to slip through:
