I've got two that play that game, Lady Morgain and Tico. Lady Morgain seems to be able to play the keep away game (but don't ignore me) forever. Tico eventually gives into his lazy hob ways and wants up for a snuggle ;D Let's face it, it's better than being totally ignored ;D ciao

When he does something funny do you ever have the urge to say "That's SO Raven"? ;D

well.. we're back to making progress. Raven is still shy about touching, except if I get the magic itchy spot on his neck that makes him arch up like a cat (still pretty sure that joan sent me a cat, the way he climbs into, onto, and IN everything). Then he runs off. Today I grabbed him and showed him around some of the places that he will never be able to reach on his own. When I put him down, he went all silly and launched himself at my leg in a massive pounce. ... then he tried to get me to play by stealing the dirty gym clothes in the laundry room. I have visions of him streaking past when we have company, triumphantly dragging my sports bra and shoving it under the couch. Good thing he'll be shy of strangers and it will NEVER happen, right?! Thwarted in his clothing theft, he instead took off with an apple. (but he says I still can't touch him) Mikey, yes. But I'm also still looking for the tattoo that says 'poor impulse control' (if anyone's ever read SnowCrash).

Don't consider yourself safe from a clothing thief. My daughter did and much to her total embarassement found a ferret (who hated people, strangers in particular) charging down the hallway with her favourite bright red thong. Her grandmother's remark was something to the effect at least he's in the "spirit of the season " ;D ;D ciao

You're probably safe from having your private clothing items displayed to visitors as long as he continues to react to them by running for his cage, as he did here. However, that could change so I wouldn't guarantee it. As for the apple, he has the same philosophy as most of mine...it just might be edible or at least a good plaything. Cricket (his sister) has a fascination for tomatoes whenever one's available on the occasions that she makes it to the kitchen counter...so far Nancy hasn't seen her eating any even though they disappear somewhere.

*sigh* you may be right. He's of the opinion that if it's not bolted down (thoroughly), then it's fair game. Nothing escapes his plundering little teeth. I found him burrowing in a box of china, every piece wrapped in some bubble wrap. I also found some pieces from the set distributed throughout the house.
. This was a box that was moderately sealed.
Husband's left shoes. Gone.
He's been on silly tears though the house, leaping up and running across the back of the couch as I'm reading email. Taking whatever plastic bags I seem to find interesting. He still gets spooked sometimes and runs away. Yesterday morning I was sitting in a doorway when the kits bum-rushed my lap... except there were three furry hooligans swarming me instead of the two I was expecting. He wheezed a few times at his joke and ran off in the other direction.
Nothing is safe from him... ;D

I wonder if that spooking is all part of his play. Tico does this too. Something will catch his eye, a motion, a movement and he will bolt. The reason why I ask if it's part of play because the other day Tico managed to actually run down the tube....he stopped just shy of the end and I could hear his tail slapping the tube. He was tail wagging . He only does this when he's happy and playing. I've watched Lady Morgain also do this sudden panic, hide thing and then poke her head out and ha ha me, accompanied by the play wiggles. Reminds me of kids who jump out at each other. They like scaring themselves ciao

I was thinking he kept startling because he was deaf and got spooked by the sudden movement, but it seems to be more what you're describing, because he'll bounce away like a frightened deer and then stop, turn and look at you, and proceed to wardance about biting at things playfully.

I'm still learning about how Raven wants to play. He gets so frustrated with the kits sometimes - he's ROUGH and wants to PLAYPLAYPLAY and they're a bit at the way he plays. Cocchi was watching him scruffing Pimm yesterday and finally Couldn't Take it Anymore and ran in and bit Raven on the bum. And then ran off giggling. I think Raven likes to be chased. But not if my husband is around... *sigh*

I find gender biases a little harder to get a break through on....I'm not sure why. They do eventually come around and sometimes they actually enjoy the person they were scared or shy with more but it seems to take more time. Perhaps because I'm the chief caretaker and hubby is an associate....they know that if they want something they have to come to me. ciao
