I finally splashed out and got my guys a fancy new cage. After about 4 hours I finally managed to put it together and they're now all settled down in their new home. Now I'm scouring websites for some nice matching bedding sets. Also, I'm currently using socks to cover the ladders but the ladders are HUGE and the socks aren't quite stretchy enough. Anyone have any ideas what else I could use (something that requires no sewing skills) to cover them?

That's what I used for the ramps between the cages, since I can't let certain groups mix. Denim from old pairs of jeans. If you want to find some really good quality stuff, check out Rose's shop: www.littlefeetferretbedding.org/

That's a cool cage, is it a Critter Nation? Or a different brand? Has it been repainted? The blue is nice! With that bar spacing (narrower than the Ferret Nation) you will never need to worry about even the smallest ferrets squeezing their heads through the bars Also easier and/or more fun to climb around the walls! P.S. - Are the bottom doors on upside-down? It kind of looks that way...

I don't think they'd be able to get in and out the cage on their own if the ridge thingy was there so I turned the door around. Also it's quite thin and sharp(ish) and I didn't like the idea of their bellies scraping against it as they tried to climb out.

I poked two small holes in one end of the fabric, pushed the hooks through and wrapped it under. For the other end, I secured it with large safety pins, two of them end to end between the end bar and the next one up. You could also do the same with the hook end.

I think they really love this cage. They don't want to come out! I took them out for playtime and they just went back in again.
It's so nice not to have to crawl on all fours and climb into a tiny cage door to clean them out.

Aww! They love their new home! And it is amazing when you finally have a cage that is easy to clean! I just got my first ferret nation a couple months ago. I would spend the money again in a heart beat for the ease of cleaning! (and the size is nice too )

Another good thing about this cage. Since having it, Milo hasn't had any toilet mishaps at all! In the old cage, he'd just go anywhere on the bottom level so I ended up just putting lots of newspaper down. I watched him earlier, trying to back into the wrong corner of the new cage, then I saw a wave of concentration on his face and he stood there for a few seconds, thinking hard...then he walked over to the tray, and backed into it He's finally got it!

This is something I found with Rolo in his FN too! 100% accuracy it was amazing! We have FINALLY reached an agreement in his new (c&C) cage about which corner is the pooping corner. The good thing about it is that he seems to use it 90% of the time while free roaming my room too so that's a definite "YAY".
