I co-rent with my mother and my fellow.
I pretty much supply the boys food and funds for their upkeep. She provides the care and spoiling. So yes, their diets will change! That much I do have some say in... since I'm paying. She's not against the raw diet. And in fact regrets not feeding her ferrets in the past(as in..30 years ago) a natural diet. Sadly it was much harder to find correct info back then if you were not in the right location.
She's not really won over by the F/T mice yet, but she fully understands why it's best and accepts that much. It's just the cute factor.
At the very least they will be raw/Wysong Epigen 90 (ferret) based. I'm ditching the Totally Ferret. It was the best I could find at the time when I started... but now I was feeding it purely out of habit. It's long overdue for a change.

I believe that's the one miamiferret refers to as "insulinoma in a bag" ;D

With good reason! It's better than some(a lot actually) out there, but that doesn't make it good.

Yay!
Two hundred mice... and fifty Day Old Chicks are now safely squeezed into my freezer. There's no room for anything else! Though half of the mice and chicks will be traveling with me to Ann when I go to visit mah little girl.
First time ordering from American Rodent and I must say I am very pleased so far. They smell like mice... not something that's been dead/stinky. I've come across bad sources before and those mice smelled horrible! I'll go update on the ordering thread as well.

Okay... I've updated the main post. Tomorrow I am going to Ann's to meet my little one. SO VERY EXCITED.
I will get as many pictures as I can, I'm warned the lighting sucks so I'm passing that warning on to you guys. BUT THERE WILL BE PICTURES. And video if I can help it!
Also... as explained in the main post... it looks like we are getting TWO. So yes, every one can hate me now. I'm getting two of Ann's kits. Well to be fair, I'm getting my little girl and my guy is going to get the boy(how original... I know).

Lol, to be fair this is far from my first ferret..... though this is my first privately bred ferret!
I've got a little over ten years of Marshalls/Farm ferrets under my belt, but I know they're worlds different from private bred weasels.
This will be my guy's first ferret.... and first pet in YEARS, but he'll have two ferret-knowledgeble folks in the house, so he'll survive(we hope).

I have to admit they are worlds apart from Marshal farm ferrets....the closest farm ferrets I can describe them too are the PV and RC ferrets. I found that they did stress the limits of my ferret proofing (which is always ongoing anyway) and at the moment wear collars and harnesses to keep track of them. There is also considerable attitude differences between intact and altered so this adds a different dimension to their interaction. ciao

You got to hold Sarkany...the Sarkany....oh, I'm so envious ;D He was the wee rotter who finally pushed me over the edge to find and get myself a breeder's ferret. He used to have his own facebook page, he and Sarkette. I used to love reading about their hyjinx. What gorgeous wee kits and oh, are you in for some real fun. ciao

Ann is great in person. She's warm and approachable, but a bit of a live wire! The woman is wonderfully insane about her mud runs and hikes(oh, and her ferrets of course)! I adore her.
Yes... I held a very sleepy/snuggly Sarkany. I got to rub his shoulders and he just melted, happily waking up slowly in my arms. He looks a bit... uh... not so sexy at the moment. Poor thing is definitely recouping from the past rut season. I'd give him a month or so and he'll be thickly furred and fleshed and sexah as ever once again! ;D
So now that I met her, I'm totally missing her! She was so adorable. I expected her to be a little wired weasel and just zip around in non-stop Hungarian fashion... but she definitely kept returning to me and piling under me to play gently with my hands. Definitely in love.

Okay... Another visit.... and MORE PICTURES!!!
And... it's about time to set a date. Er Mer Gerdz! Really the date is depending on an up coming camping trip or not. Neither I nor Ann felt it was best to pick them up *before* I spend two nights away, especially in the critical bonding time of them first coming to our home. If I go, it may be the monday after... if I don't... MAYBE THIS WEEKEND!
Oh yes, Sarkany looks sexier this time... his tail is coming back! ;D
