It's windy outside, dust is blowing and there is lightning. It looks like another monsoon rain is coming. Well, ahead of the storm, this visitor arrived on my porch, waiting for the rare desert rain in which he/she will quickly find a mate and breed: Untitled by walkerstop, on Flickr I'd say this toad was over 2 lbs. It let me approach close, but as soon as the flash from the picture went off, the light scared it and it bolted into the night faster than I expected it could move ;D I thought about going after it, maybe picking it up or feeding it to the ferrets. But would rather let it go live its life undisturbed. I'm glad that's what I did, because it appears to be one of these guys: Sonoran Desert Toad: www.desertmuseum.org/books/nhsd_desert_toad.phpA couple items of note: Apparently they spend most of the year underground and just come out during the short summer monsoon season to breed. Wow, hard to believe their max lifespan is potentially double that of our ferrets!! WOW! What an amazing creature! Be safe chubby lil guy, you apparently have a LONG life ahead of you, and with your natural defenses, me and my animals don't want any quarrel with you

....and you were asking about a natural bug disposal....just watch your wee ferrets... That's one big toad. Don't let any of your pets near it and make sure you wash your hands if you handle it. Most toads excrete toxins through their skin as a means of self defence (even our garden variety). ciao
