First of all thank-you to everyone that helped me when I was utterly lost ;D ...and now for the awesome news...I finally got around to buying some meat turns out my local feed store make and sell their own grinds..I bought a 2kg of chicken mince..bagged it ..froze it then ..went on to make soup for the kids...and lets just say.... .... ...... ........ THEY TRIED IT! no gagging, retching, acting like i was killing them..of course they aren't eating willingly but can tempted by first licking some off my finger then being given the spoon..also this mince contains grinded up bone and slivers of meat which they don't mind eating

That's great nice score to be able to get chicken already minced with the bones and meat. Does it have liver and hearts added?

First, let me say CONGRATULATIONS!!! Second- yeah, that's ferrets for ya ;D For 3 or 4 days, stick with their mince, then start adding in just a couple slivers of the heart and liver. Slowly increase that until they are in the proper ratio. The problem is they make the mix MUCH stronger tasting.

That's a bonus ;D I'd still keep putting it in at night until you know they are going to eat enough of the raw to keep them full.

That's a bonus ;D I'd still keep putting it in at night until you know they are going to eat enough of the raw to keep them full. Oh no doubt about that I'd be too nervous to leave them without food overnight LOL .. Ok latest update took out their kibble this morning well more like the bowl was empty ..waited an hour or so then put about 3ml of soup in a bowl in their cage .. Came back an hour later to find the bowl not only empty but LICKED CLEAN..so I put another 3ml in and not even 10 minutes later the bowl was empty and again licked clean LOL so now I've poured what was left of the batch and see how they do with that Ok I weighed the girls and this may have something to do with the soup they have been eating today but currently the following weighs are what they are sitting at. Angel - 1.7lbs Devil - 1.9lbs O.o

Just keep giving them as much of the soup as they are willing to eat right now.

Lastest update: The bowl is consistently being licked clean which is always a good thing the only thing they don't seem to favour is the slivers of meat the processor couldn't mince x.x
I'm usually filling the bowl twice a day and a 3 mix is lucky to stretch that far LOL

Do you have a blender? or better yet a food processor? Take the amount of heart and liver that would be needed for the amount of mince you've made up, put that in your processor and grind it up. It will be more readily accepted and your wee ones will be eating a totally balanced grind ciao

I have a mini food processor I've been using to puree the meat with water..I do make quite a grand mess every 3 days LOL At the risk of sounding completely stupid how would I know how much heart and liver to mix with the meat I'm defrosting I didn't measure it just bagged and froze at the time. Ferret Weights: Angel - 1.7lbs Devil - 1.9lbs

Hmmm, it depends on how much meat you made up But....I feed about 3/4 hearts (especially if they've been frozen) and a liver for each ferret per week. Does that help you? ciao
