Hi guys!
I'm Jess, I was on the other HF but never migrated over to this one due to some home things that came up.
When I was active there, I had my boys Rascal and Renegade, and my girl Harley. Unfortunately, nearly 6 months ago (Feb 4 2012) I had to say goodbye to Rascal, as he had a very rare aggressive cancer (we couldn't find another documented case of it, other than another ferret that I had for 3 months who came to me with it). It was a shock, as he was fine in the morning and then on death's doorstep by 4pm, and he really was my heart and soul. Renegade and Harley are still healthy and happy with me here, though
Despite telling myself that I was not going to own another ferret for a long while -- I would only foster once my two were gone, and despite my parents telling me that I was absolutely not getting another one... on April 21st we welcomed Ella into our home. She was meant to be a foster... then we learned she was a 7-month old female (young female is the only ferret Renegade would allow in the cage with him), and learned that she would be up for adoption, and, well, we fell in love and couldn't imagine her leaving. So she is with us for good now, for better or for worse. Renegade is absolutely in love, and has taught her to be just as naughty (if not more than) him. Harley is grumpy cause Ella keeps trying to get her to play -- Harley doesn't play. She's above playing, and would just like to cuddle with her humans, please. Today is one of those "for worse" days ;D
Haha sorry, I wrote kind of a novel there...
We currently feed a mix of high quality (mostly) fish-based cat kibble (Acana, Orijen, Fromm, sometimes Go! Grainfree.. whatever I feel like grabbing) and supplement with novelty protein raw -- currently goat and lamb. Unfortunately, Renegade cannot have raw -- he is allergic to meat (
). He has the least problems with kibble, so that's what we stick to. My wallet doesn't like the $500 vet bills that comes from giving him raw
Harley will eat goat, she's not too sure about lamb yet. She came to me at 2 1/2 years old, so she's not so sure raw is food. Ella is my super star who loooooves her raw, and gladly chomped down the goat bone she stole while I was trying to give it to my dog. ;D
So that's it, I guess
We have Renegade (5yo male), Harley (4 1/2yo female) and Ella (11mo female) here, and of course, Rosey, our (almost) 16 year old dog! Often enough we have a foster ferret or two thrown into the mix, just to mix things up a bit -- though not as often as I'd like, as Renegade is aggressive to others and won't let male ferrets into his house.
