Sounds like he's quite clever to me Only sometimes He also figured rather quickly that if he squeezed his butt hard enough, the vet could not push the thermometer inside ROTFL! Sounds very smart to me indeed! ;D

What a wee doll! And yes, he's a blaze with WS. Out of curiosity- is he a major spazz once he gets going? Many of these little ones(blazes) are

Oh yes, he's really hilarious when the Weasel War Dance starts up! He makes nervous he's going to hurt himself with all of his flailing and smacking against things

I know where you are coming from . Our poor wee Cody is(was) a blaze. He war dances off everything and into everything, bounces and right back up again. He's actually the reason I started referring to the ferrets as "bumbles"

Is the short tail always a sign of Waardenburg? Avalanche has a short tail, but he's not a panda and not deaf. He IS a bit dumb and does have a white head.

Not necessarily. Sometimes mum over grooms when they are a few days old and winds up trimming off a tail tip or even a foot. Generally only happens with first time mums, or those under extreme stress.

A shortened tail can also be a genetic issue but as Sherry mentioned hyper-grooming is also an issue with a shortened tail ciao

I'm fairly certain Kaylee is a Waardy. Without comparing her to another ferret, I wouldn't think so, but after comparing her face to River's, she seems to have a broad forehead, very flat, and a shorter, more "dainty" nose than even River's dainty little face. Judging from her markings, she was probably a panda at some point. She has one grey leg, grey tail spots, and a big of grey scattered along her back, but no mask residue at all. The DEW is Kaylee, the blaze is River. (I need a better face shot of Kaylee, and a straight on shot of River!) Also, Kaylee doesn't seem to speak very good ferret! She screams for no apparent reason, and hisses, also, for no apparent reason. She seems to be mostly deaf, if not completely. If she's asleep, nothing can wake her. I did hear her dooking a little tonight though, after River managed to get her attention and they were chasing around the room. And for some reason, Kaylee LOVES to climb. She's like a little white monkey. LOL

It's weird, but our little DEW Willow(also waardy) LOVES climbing. Or did before the insulinoma. We were consistently pulling her off the tops of the 142 and 143.

Generally only happens with first time mums, or those under extreme stress. Eep! Poor babies. But his tail is very fluffy, fur growing at the tip and all. A shortened tail can also be a genetic issue but as Sherry mentioned hyper-grooming is also an issue with a shortened tail ciao Ok - I did think it was genetic! Also, I can't get over how cute all these ferreties ARE. <3
