Those are really interesting. Thanks, Jennifer Looks like melatonin does more than just grow back their fur after all!

There have been various studies over time, and results always vary.
In my kids...... For the first des. implant, i intentionally did not use melatonin with it because I wanted to understand what to expect in my kids from the Des. implants. I just implanted the brats with Melatonin, and I'm now waiting to get the des. stuff through. Right now , I'm trying to hunt down a source for the 30-day lupron , which we may need as an interim treatment. I will be curious t see if I can detect break-through in behavioral symptoms with a combo of the Lupron and Des. used together.

I have noticed a difference in Sinnead's behaviour with the melatonin already. She's already on the monthly lupron, which had pretty much ceased to be effective, hence the implant. Her sexual aggression has basically disappeared, she's got more energy, vulva is still somewhat swollen, but not badly. And Vincent has ceased to bother her any more. Every month, a few days prior to when the lupron was due, he'd start harassing her quite a bit. Scruffing, dragging, etc. Granted she did have her usual lupron on the 13th of Feb., but prior to that, he'd been after her throughout the month. Now, no more so than he tries to wrestle with the others.

A lot of ferret owners swear by the melatonin, and many find their melatonin ferrets to do as well as their lupron and/or surgery ferrets. It's so frustrating - it all feels like such a "crap shot" to me.

I've had really good success with oral melatonin and yet others find it garbage. I know that my fuzzes are eventually going to have to go to lupron or des (I'm trying that whole des thing right now and am getting varied results). Mad Max didn't respond at all to the lupron, but the melatonin did wonderful things for him, right up until the end. Now, in all fairness Mad Max had cancerous lesions on his bladder and this may have been why the lupron didn't work for him. Pooka responded ..ok to the lupron, even better on the des but I think her age is catching up to her ciao
