Jackie was right, turkey necks are a pain. I need to chop/crush these necks, one will feed Penne for about 3 meals. (My computer is being wonky, so the post is short).

Yes, they are much stronger then chicken necks...I haven't tried it with Chestnut yet, but I remember when we first switched our dog Bruno, he wasn't really interested in it either....

Penne likes em. but they're too huge for one ferret unless I leave it in the cage for a couple days.
Anyone have advice on crushing/ cutting them? I have a lot of frustration to vent.

Like Heather, I use a hammer and a cheap plastic cutting board. Bad day? Hammer time! (can't touch this! ) ~Kelli

CLEAVER!!! ;D Mine makes pretty short work of them. I chop them into segments, then split the segments in half.

Haha, yes, turkey necks are a PITA. I use my Ulu knife + hammer, and the scissors to cut into long pieces like my kids prefer. I hate turkey neck days, but they are a huge hit with the fuzz 1 long/big turkey neck usually feeds my 3 girls for 1 meal, so it makes sense that it would feed little Penn for 3.

Wow Jackie! You guys must get small necks there One neck here does all 8, with some left over! These ones can be about 3-4" in diameter at the top end, and about a foot or more long. Think old grandpa Tom turkey size ;D

Our necks are about 2 in thick and about 3-5 inches long. Some are thicker and shorter and some are longer and thinner

Mine won't bother really touching turkey necks, I never thought about splitting them lengthwise in half, I think I'd probably hack a finger off. I stick to chicken and duck necks and leave the turkeys to the dogs.
