Ok, he seems to have a slight sensitivity to beef. Not a bad one, though. He can have it in his diet once a week if you like. And that's great that he's eating from the wing!!! As he gets more experience, and more jaw strength he'll be able to chow down on the bone itself.

Good to know. Today is day 3 of the wings and he's still eating them amazingly. What should I start with tomorrow? Organs or some sort?

Heart or liver would be excellent! Either/or, and let me know how he does with them. Be prepared fir some loose(ish) tarry black stool though

Gave him some liver today. I didn't weigh how much I gave him... ( forgot.) so I don't know exactly how much he ate but it didn't look like very much - I know he did eat some though. I weighed them this time and gave him some more - I'll update you once I know how much he actually eats of them haha.

It takes a while before they really get into it as a rule. I've only had two take to the organ meats right off. Just the fact he did eat it, even if not a lot, is great for his first exposure to it

That's good to know! Should I just give him regular chicken or wings/necks at night then since he probably won't eat enough of the liver overnight? After I took out the old liver I kind of wondered if he even ate any of it (even though I swore I saw him eating some earlier.) But then once he went back in his cage after playing his poop was definitely a tarry black.

Then he ate some ;D If you like, in the interim, you can take that two ounces of liver, and split it up over several days, just to make sure he's getting most of it into him. Just put a small bit in with his normal meat. Ok, let's try some heart next!

I gave him about 1.5oz of heart last night and he ate all of it!

Oh, that is wonderful! Ok, let's start getting a sample menu down so we can begin to properly balance his diet. Bone 8-9 meals a week, muscle 3-4(one of which HAS to be heart), and one organ meal a week(or split over a few days) Just write it up based on the proteins he's getting now, and we'll sub with new proteins as he goes on

However much he'll eat? ;D Don't worry about putting weights down. Just something along the lines of: Monday am: pork pm: chicken wing Tuesday am: liver pm chicken necks And so on for the week. If he gets the same thing for the entire day, put that down. The idea here is to get a tentative working menu. We'll work with it, and tweak it from there. Once you've graduated, we'll get you to write up a final menu, so not to worry

alright. So two meals a day? I was asking because when I was writing it up it didn't look like much for him to eat. Unless of course he can go over the 8-9/week 3-4/week. Then it looks like more. Does this include night time meals or no? Sorry, I'm really thorough sometimes. This is what I have so far, anyways. Monday AM: Chicken Wing/Neck PM: Chicken Wing/Neck Tuesday AM: Chicken Wing/Neck PM: Pork Loin Wednesday AM: Liver PM: Chicken Wing/Neck Thursday AM: Beef Meat of some sort. PM: Chicken Wing/Neck Friday AM: Chicken Wing/Neck PM: Chicken Wing/Neck Saturday AM: Pork Loin PM: Chicken Wing/Neck Sunday AM: Heart PM: Chicken Wing/Neck Obviously if I can get another bone meat I'll substitute that in instead of all the chicken wings/neck I'm pretty sure I saw some pork riblets the last time we went to the store and they looked pretty small. Would those work for a bone meat for him? Since he obviously likes pork, I figured that would be a good add. Also, I want to try some turkey again soon, as well.

That actually looks pretty good I know you are feeding him three times a day right now, and that's fine. He'll reduce from that pretty quickly. All you have to do is leave in enough meat at each meal to last until the next. The ideal is to only have one or two pieces left to clear out when you put in the fresh. If all of it is being finished, put a wee bit more in with each meal. Now, the general idea with introducing new meats/bones is to simply substitute them into the appropriate places. Bone in meats in the correct spot(replacing bone in), and muscle meat replacing muscle meat. Some good bone in meats are almost any chicken bone(you can just smash the leg and thigh bones with a hammer or cleaver), rabbit(rear leg bones are usually too dense), turkey necks/ribs/wing tips, duck neck/ribs/wing tips, lamb neck, some pork neck, pork rib ends, and of course, whole prey. I can also buy quail in the grocery store here(at least at Superstore).

I know there is no duck or lamb in the stores here. I'll look for quail though. I'm thinking with my next pay check I'll order some things from hare today since I need hearts anyways. Just to make sure I'm understanding. Two meals a day for the entire 24 hours? Or 2 meals during the time I'm awake and then another one at night?
