So I stumbled upon an AWESOME raw pet food store this past weekend, and it got me to thinking, why dont we have a thread (organized by state, country, province etc) listing raw feeding resources.
For example, a New Jersey thread with posts about the locations of specific pet stores, butches etc that have been useful to members. The post about the store could include a little review as well as a rundown of what they have.
I know lots of members run into trouble finding local solutions to their raw feeding problems, and was thinking this might be a good way for us to help each other out.
Let me know what everyone thinks

Not a bad idea. We'd need a lot more info to put it up by state/ country though. As it is, in the raw/whole prey sites thread, I think there's only about ten posts.

Maybe start another sub board in the raw providers section and have the actual state threads created on an as need basis ? I was thinking that if you live in a state that is not represented in the sub-board, post a new thread titled "your state" and then other people can post the stores and places that they have been to in that thread. That way, if there are no known stores or resources in a given location, there would be no thread for that location. I know that the online raw providers thread is a little thin, but i'm thinking thats mainly because there are only so many national/international online raw providers. On the other hand, there are probably tons of butchers/ethnic markets/ holistic pet food providers in each state. For example, the store i found has a website, but does not ship. However they can order products if requested. I couldn't add this store to the online providers, because they dont ship raw food . However, it might be of interest to any members living in the NJ/tri state area. Maybe other members from other states have great resources, like an awesome ethnic butcher, that would only be convenient for people in the area. Just my two cents lol

I think it would be awesome! I'm in Canada, and can't find diddly in my area. I have to drive 3 hours to get my commercial raw! Trying to find an online vendor in Canada that ships? Virtually impossible.

Unfortunately, I think I'm the only person on the board in my state lol otherwise I would LOVE this idea. I could really use some info on where to find things.

I know where I get my raw from in Pennsylvania,Hare Today. My only complaint is that they only have course grind or fine grind. I have too many elders for the course grind, and there were some really huge bones in that for my furkids. And the fine grind is so fine that they don't really get to enjoy the bone or the chewy pieces. And I have a few younger ones who love that bone chomping and muscle and organ chewing. Agree If I could find someone else who could offer the medium grind, it would be ideal

The funny thing is. When it came time to relocate the first thing I did was research where to get organs, meat, ect for my ferrets in the medford oregon area. (you know where my priorities are) The problem with most so called butchers now a days is they only order primals and then cut them into whatever they need: steaks, roasts, ect. This is not a true butcher. A true butcher takes the cow from living to Market meat. These so called butchers will not get any organs, afal, heart, ect unless they order it, and there is little demand. Where as a true butcher will have this stuff and need to sell it. I came across a true butcher near Medford and it looks quite promising. I will post up more info once I am relocated and have frequented the shop. They make their own raw dog food and with a little tweaking I am sure they can come up with some stuff for ferrets. But The fact is that they obviously have all the stuff to make the raw dog food so I am sure I can get it Pre-ground If I ask. But here is the link, it is in Eagle Point, Oregon. butchershopinc.com/
