hehe i am a bad girl! i took a raw egg and broke it to where only the shell broke, not the membrane ( i am that skilled!) and took a pin and poked a hole in it. and rob LOVED it. so i showed mom that he was licking up that egg white and she said" oh well, you already did it... " and i broke it and put it on a plate for him. turns out he likes the yolk more then the whites anyway!!! YAY!!!!! only two a week though, i was told but hey! at least he gets his protien. i am going to put hagrid on two eggs a week also because he is rather skinny for winter... thanks guys!

Be careful....usually you get egg poopies so don't be surprised. I used to laugh at Napoleon because he would eat the whole egg himself and not share ..... you could hear him in the litter box We would tell him he could propel himself out of the litter box with the gas ciao

yeah i am prepared for the gas:) i don't think they could smell much worse then they doo LOL! i know and understand. and guess what?!?! i had to scruff rob in order to get him to try it. he loved it! the only thing he did not like about it is that raw egg is sticky. so i was prepared to scruff hagrid and i set him down, and he just started lapping it up like he had never eaten in his life! and he had that scrunched up face that they make when they are happily eating treats or soupies!!

And stivsferrets- just to make you aware, adrenal has nothing to do with diet. That's the pediatric spay/neuter along with lighting. It's insulinoma that raw/whole prey can help deter. It doesn't eliminate the chance, simply decreases it.

Sometimes I want to go to vet school instead of med school just so I can say "I AM A VET - Raw is safe. Now STFU."

i said them both because i could not remember which one it was ( makes me feel like a bad ferrent...) but i know all about how raw foods decrease it. i never believed that it eliminated the chances!

It doesn't make you a bad ferrant....it takes a lot more than simply remembering/forgetting one of the horrible diseases and it's causes. Once you've had wee ones for awhile you will get to know at least those two and the differences No, unfortunately...insulinoma isn't eliminated by diet but you can definitely tip the balance in your favour by feeding raw ciao

i knew that it decreases it:) thats why i was trying to convince my inconvincable mom to put them on raw foods. maybe they will live a year or so longer then they would have if they kept eating JUST kibbles. you know?

Want to know something? Even if their life span is shortened by developing something like insulinoma- your ferrets have a GREAT life! They have food, shelter, someone to play with, someone to snuggle with, and someone who loves them dearly That's a LOT more than some poor things have.

Jackie, Sukie's response to your post is posted on the FHL and will be on the FML tomorrow. She's determined to have the last word. I really wonder how many ferrets have developed insulinoma because Sukie's posts scared the owners off feeding a raw diet.
