i know!!! he was sleeping when i picked him up. he looked up at me, gave me the tired face and fell right back to sleep, i could feel his heart slow down! haha it was so funny it sped up when he looked up at me, and then slowed and he went back to sleep. I LOVE THIS FERRET! but i have some bad news, i think my Dark sable chocolate ferret Hagrid might be adrenal:( he is showing signs of adrenal agression, weight loss, and he is stumbling a lot

I really dont know how to deal with it both my ferrets are younger and dont have it. But i'm sure plenty of people can help. It's so sad it happens so often. I wish someone could find a sure fire cure.

well, he could just be randomly mean to my ferrets all of a sudden? but even at the shelter he was the nicest ferret and never attacked anyone! even if they were attacking him!!! he is SUCH a good ferret. and i think it has to do with some jealousy of Rob. ever since he came home Hagrid has been on his neck. now we have seperate playtimes for the ferrets, the girls and Rob in the morning, and then the boys and Girls in the afternoon. that is so he can be sociallized and they cannot get depressed from missing their boyfriends. hehe! i really hope it is just jealousy and not adrenal! and the stumbling seemed to stop a few weeks ago! but teh weight, we think he just might not be getting enough food, because my 1st ferret Stiv is younger then he is and he is FULL of muscle. Hagrid is about 4 so it is a chance that he could have adrenal but I just hope not!

Congrats and welcome! Rob is a cutie! Here is my little boy Kenai. I don't think I'll ever decide one way or the other as to whether he is Truly Waardenberg's or not, but he is certaily "Special" if you know what I mean. He is a Black Roan Mitt and he has a reverse blaze - his blaze is darker rather than white. When he was in shed winter to summer coat) he had the tiniest white snip in the middle of his dark blaze. I'll see if I can find the pictures. Anyways, Kenai is not deaf but he is both mentally and physically delayed. He is a VERY slow learner and he's not very good at figuring things out for himself. He is like a kid with a learning disorder. He learns, but everything he does is several months behind what it should be. And it takes a LONG Time. He also Forgets rather quickly. Things don't really stick. And he has very little focus (where Koda - ferret genius - will NOT GIVE UP when he wants something ). Physically Kenai has no muscle tone. Even after he shed his massive winter + kit flub and slimmed down...he was all skinny flop, no muscle bulk or tone. He has built a tiny bit of muscle but even that tiny bit is nothing. He isn't very physically "capable." He is uncoordinated, falls a lot (more than usual) and can't get into/onto things very well. Again he is improving, but the improvement is VERY slow and many months behind where he should be physically. He is like a kit - and he is almost one year old. Sometimes he walks wrong, and sometimes he stands wrong. He does this thing where he stands like he is pooping...only he won't be pooping that's just how he stands. Of course he forgets how to use the litter box so we always have to run over in case he IS pooping..and then it's like Dangit I got up for nothing! Why do you have to stand like a goober?! AS for his walk, his back legs kind of work like....paddles. ;D ;D ;D ;D They move in a more circular motion that makes him waddle. He is fine and healthy, I think he just got used to being fat and that's how he walks now. ;D ;D ;D ;D His booty's got swing! He is also a big scaredy. He HATES new things. It took several months to get him used to playing outdoors - he would shake and cower and beg to be picked up. When he finally got used to it...he still cowers a bit in new outdoor places until he has played in that spot a few times. He is very mellow for his age an loves to be carried. He doesn't like to explore or go on walks outside, he wants to be carried and is very content to stay in your arms! ;D We are making some major progress in that area though, but I am not too sure that he will ever Walk on a leash though that's not too abnormal for ferrets. (Koda is almost as good as a dog - I got lucky with him lol). Let's see...he also steps in his own poop and rolls in his feeding den, so he always has a funky smell to him. Here he is! My Special little Chub Kenai! You can see the reverse blaze here PLEASE let me up! I wanna go inside! My favorite picture of him ever Chubs! Also, I can't find the picture (click on the trophy by my name and you will see the thread that has it) but he sleeps in the WEIRDEST positions - even for a ferret! I know many people with deafies have said that their deafies like to be upside down.

Oh yes, and Kenai also has a stub tail! I wish I had a better picture of when he was a kit! It has gotten a little longer as he has grown, but it's still shorter than Koda's. As a kit though it was so tubby! And the very tip is white, but it's hard to photograph. Also I forgot to add - I have been meaning to post this for a while. But when Kenai gets excited he poofs....backwards. Where most ferrets will get poofy tailed, then if they get REALLY excited, poofy bodied as well... Kenai is the opposite. His tail RARELY poofs. When he gets excited, his Body gets poofy! ;D I'm like "um...I think you're doing it wrong bud!"

HE DOES THE SAME THING!!!! i don't know if it is catlike or what! he has really long hair for being NOT an angora ferret! its about 2 1/2 inches long! he is VERY fluffy, he LOVES to be outside, he LOVES to run, yet he is a VERY beautiful cuddly boy! i really do love him! and he is a joy to have!!!!i just want him to get along with my boys!!!!!!

oh! and your photos, they are ADORABLE!!!!! and yes, rob sleeps in the MOST HALARIOUS positions in the world! i mean, a LOT of ferrets like to sleep with their head hanging off of the hammock, but does YOUR ferret sleep in his hammie with his head in the hole that they go in, and then through the hole that takes him down to the next level in the cage? and he won't hang his head off of any other section of the hammie, it HAS to be through the hole! LOL!!!
