This is our family's pitbull - Turk. He's not raw fed, but he is the best dog I've ever met. Super sweet, great with kids. He has grown up with 5 kids, two of them are only 3. Most gentle dog ever :-)

He almost looks like my little mix, Patches, although she's still a puppy. She could quite possibly be a full breed, cause she is most definitely a pit bull, lol, but they don't know which town dog the dad was. She's such a love bug, but has a huge defiant streak! I've never known a more stubborn dog, lol. They are awesome dogs that actually have more love that most other breeds when raised correctly

He looks great, such a happy looking face. I use to have a neg. attitude about pit bulls, from all the news and press one sees. But watching the dog whisperer really has changed my opinion,I totally fell in love with Daddy and Junior. At Christmas time when I was out walking I ran into a guy with the cutest 8 wk old puppy,he was so adorable (the puppy). It was the first time I saw a pit bull puppy,I just wanted to scoop him up and take him home. I've been told that they were originally bred to be great family dogs.

Pitbulls are the sweetest dogs I've ever met. They have a bad rap, but I love them to pieces.
In Miami FL, they are illegal to own. $500 fine if caught. Glad I don't live there anymore :-)

Oh, he's gorgeous! I don't think I've ever seen more expressive eyes on any other breed. Our staffie was the same way.

They're very similar breeds.

Definitley very similar A trainer/breeder told me that you could look on the pitt as being the working dog of the breed, with the staff being the show dog. The same as you can have a field retriever and a golden. Basically the same breed, but with different configurations. At least, that's how she explained it.

Very interesting analogy. Great way to explain it - I never thought of it that way before.

Neither had I. It would certainly explain the similarities in them. Either/or, they are a wonderful breed, and your guy is so sweet!

Some people feel they're basically the same breed and some don't. Many owners of either breed would say they are not the same. The AKC only recognizes Staffies and not the American Pit Bull Terrier. "A common question regarding the APBT is, "How is this breed different from the American Staffordshire Terrier?". In the eyes of the United Kennel Club, they are the same breed, but many disagree. Some AKC-registered American Staffordshire Terriers are dual-registered as American Pit Bull Terriers with the UKC; however, this draws criticism from many who point out that the bloodlines have been separate for too long for these to be considered the same breed. The AKC, on the other hand, does not allow a UKC-registered American Pit Bull Terrier to be registered as an American Staffordshire Terrier. To be dual-registered, the dog must first be an AKC-registered American Staffordshire Terrier and then it can be registered with the UKC as an APBT -- but not vice versa... " www.bulldogbreeds.com/americanpitbullterrier.htmlI feel the working dog of any breed should be the same as the show dog. After all, shows are supposed to be about exhibiting the perfect standard of that breed and most breeds were bred originally to do some form of work. I have nothing against showing dogs in and of itself but when a German Shepherd bred to show has such a slopped back it can't even walk properly and it wins, there's a problem.

There will always be people who take breeding to an extreme, unfortunately. :-(
