As some of you may know, I had a ferret flown in from Washington, from Ferretown USA! He's an intact hob, about 3.5 months old. Well, he's here! He got here safe and sound! Here he is! Sorry these pics are so crappy, I was scared to hold him at first! He wanted to bite me LOL... he must have been so scared from the airline trip! He's fine now though, I can hold and pet him no problem. I weighed him after a big meal and he was 2.5 lbs. Just an interesting note, this is the same as Fenton weighed when he was 4.5 months, so a month older. Based on this, I assume he will be larger than Fenton. This isn't hard to imagine, given that his skull appears to be just as big as Fenton's already, and his nose is bigger. Plus, I assume hormones will make a difference too, he's intact. This guy is a goof! He likes the litterbox a little too much... He fell asleep with the front half of his body in the litterbox! Cute but gross... He also seems to want to eat all his meals in the litterbox Yucky! I think I really need to finally set up a feeding den... I know I should have done this a long time ago but my other 2 babies have been OK with hiding their food under sleep sacks , or blankets, etc. For now, I cut holes in a milk carton and tied it to the corner of the cage as a makeshift feeding den. Funny thing... it actually worked! I gave the little guy some uncured bacon and when he tried to take it to the litterbox I too it away from him and put it in the milk carton. Next piece of bacon I gave him, he dutifully carried to the milk carton to eat! Hehe... I think this little guy is a quick learner!

He is adorable! He will grow like a weed....you watch.
I have two, 5 month of old hobs at home. Fenway is at 3.5 lbs and Zeke is at 3 lbs (he was runt of litter)
Kits love to sleep in their litter box. Fenway still sleeps in the litter box. Just keep putting the boy into his hammock.

>He also seems to want to eat all his meals in the litterbox That gave me a great idea. I have a jill that pulls her meat into the litter box. I just rec'vd a corner litter box as a raffle item. Going to have hubby drill some holes into it and use it as a feed den. It's washable! Thanks for idea.

Congratulations!!! He's adorable And since he seems to be such a bright little boy, you may just have trouble on your hands ;D I think his little face just has trouble written all over it LOL! Even without ramps he has already figured out how to access all 3 levels of the FN143 (no challenge), and this morning he discovered the foam peanut dig box at the top level! Oh boy, he raised a ruckus about it! He was going nuts in there! If I pick him up while he's playing, of course the first thing he wants is for me to let him go, and he makes his displeasure very clear! He knows he isn't allowed to bite (I'm being very strict about it which Nancy also recommends) so he will just open his mouth and pant, or whine and complain... I have been making him hold still before I will put him down though (Nancy's advice) and waiting for him to do the little "sigh" of defeat. I figure if this guy is going to get big, I better make sure he knows who is boss while he's little! lol...

OMG i love him! love him ! are you going to use the deslorelin instead of neutering him? That's the plan! He also hasn't been de-scented so he has the ability to "poof". Well, I know he has been through a lot during his airplane flight and coming to a new home and all, and everything's new, and I was pretty strict scruffing and dragging him when he was trying to bite me at first. And he has already been introduced to my other ferrets. Well, he didn't poof during all of this commotion. I can see how this surgery is really not necessary... Stock up on that meat....they eat a lot.....growing kit. Oh boy... you're scaring me ;D I suppose I went through this to a lesser degree with Fenton and Fiona, but I think this guy is on a whole different level when it comes to appetite, he really tears into the meat. I went to the store last night and bought a bunch of variety of meat, meaty bones, and organs, hope he doesn't eat me out of house and home ;D

mikey they shipped him to you? you were advised as to what flight he was on and just went and picked him up ? how did that work? were you satisfied with the way he was shipped? Yeah, I was given an airwaybill number I could use to track the progress of his flight in real-time on the Continental website. They gave me his flight numbers, and for pick-up, they gave me the number of the station where I had to pick him up. It was not in the terminal, it was in an air-conditioned trailer down one of the airport service roads. The service claims that the animals are kept in air-conditioned holding areas when not in flight, and that during the flight they are also kept in air conditioning. Since it's summer, and it's hot outside, and he arrived safely and without any obvious signs of distress, I would have to say I am happy with the service. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see how he was handled every step of the way, but based on how he acted when I got him, he was a little scared and shook up by the experience, but in good health and unharmed as far as I can tell, and didn't seem traumatized by the whole experience. His little pet carrier he came in had food and water and the airline people are supposed to make sure neither runs out during the trip, I think.
