I came to look into the mentoring program awhile back. I pretty much access most things from my phone. Quite frankly- I am a lazy typer on mobile not to mention challenges of the forum format, so I didnt move forward with it. I have two who eat commercial raw but would like better options for them. So I'm going to try to dig through old posts and see what I can find.

Oh man this is a bummer! I have a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old who are really imprinted on their kibble. I would LOVE help trying to get them to eat ANYTHING! I don’t even have anything I can use as treats except baby food which is messy or ferretone which I now isn’t great for them. Would anyone be interested in trying to mentor me? I’m happy to go through a messeging app or something (if that’s agents the forum rules let me know and forgive me it is NOT my intention to make anyone uncomfortable or break the rules.) I just really want to get them healthier and I’m at a total loss... 🙁

A lot of people have told me that they switched their ferrets by studying the numerous switching threads here on the HFF and following the same steps. If you read enough of the old switching threads, you'll encounter pretty much every problem and solution for a raw switch.

I believe it is actually running on the website now. I've not mentored in a long time due to burn out.

Can someone tell me if there are still courses being offered to help me transition my ferrets to raw? I have tried the "enroll" section several times without success.

As of June 7th 2021 is the mentoring program back up or still on hold?? I recently got a kit Jill named Sassy!! I wish I wish I would have looked further into adopting BUT I seen her in a pet store & fell in love! I kept her on the food they were feeding her since she was born (Path Valley Farms) if I kept her on that food for 60 days it didn’t break her warranty if anything would happen to go wrong (if she got sick or passed away ) so I chose to keep her on that for those 60 days. After those 60 days I was EAGER to get her diet changed. I still didn’t fully understand raw feeding so I started her on Air Dried Ziwi Peak. I’ve learned more about raw & I would really like to start our journey! I want her to live the best life possible, full of love & everything she possibly needs!! I would like to do the mentor program to have guidance. I have learned a lot while reading forums but still have a tone of questions! Thank you in advance!

Kayross , the mentor program is not up but some of us here have been mentored or have switched on our own and will be glad to help you. While this is the pattern one follows to prepare a week's meal, you will need to read information at this site(s) to help understand ferrets dietary needs and so forth. holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/It is great info that we have read to switch. It may seem overwhelming but once you get it ---you will be ok. Do ask questions, and again---we will be glad to help you. Monday: AM: bone in meat PM: bone in meat (or muscle)** Tuesday: AM: bone in meat PM: muscle meat Wednesday: AM: bone in meat PM: heart (OR 50/25/25 MIX)*** Thursday: AM: bone in meat PM: bone in meat (or muscle)** Friday: AM: bone in meat PM: ½ heart + ¼ liver + ¼ other organ (OR 50/25/25 MIX)*** Saturday: AM: bone in meat PM: muscle meat Sunday: AM: bone in meat PM: ½ liver + ½ other organ (OR 50/25/25 MIX)*** 1. Give a bone in meal before and after a muscle or organ meal. This helps prevent diarrhea or very lose stool. 2. U can give up to 3 bone in meals in a row. If stool is dry or chalky, give a muscle meal instead of the 2nd or3rd bone-in. 3. U can give up to 3 bone in meals in a row. If stool is dry or chalky, give a muscle meal instead of the 2nd or 3rd bone-in.

I learned by myself on this forum. this was around 2008 or 2009 when one of my ferrets had been diagnosed with insulinoma. I learned by reading all the old switching threads! There are some good ones.
