Akira might do okay with hand feeding but usagi hardly take anything from my hand besides salmon oil. Very stubborn when it comes to trying things. I tried to give her some cooked chicken last night as a treat she wouldn't budge. At least the raw is kind of wet so maybe dabbing will work again.

They ate all their soup with slivers again this afternoon but they are eating much slower than they used to if that means anything.

I think with how you are doing a little slower eating really means they are stopping and chewing. This means they are working a bit more than slurping soup.

They ate all soup and all 5 slivers this morning and this afternoon, they finished this afternoon pretty quick actually. I'm going to put in 6 sliver tonight, maybe once we get up to 10 slivers regularly at this size I'll see about thickening the soup? We've also been plaything this new game where I drag this mouse toy around by string it drives them both wild chasing after it. 1. Ferret's name: Akira 2. Ferret's weight: 774g 3. Sounds like it is going great! Mouse chase sounds fun. My two love to chase dangling plastic bags or towels. Silly ferrets!
The girls are looking good. I see Akira is going back but Usagi is still not. Did Usagi shed more? She has a good size rump so I am not concerned but will keep watching. The scale is helpful to keep it real.

I leave it hanging from the ceiling when I can't run along with them but in that case they prefer plastic bags as well.
I'm not sure what's the deal with Usagi, they have shed some but not a whole lot from what I can tell or who's really putting off more. Even though it's been hot we've also been having a whole lot of storms for a bit maybe now that it's been hotter without the rain to cool things down, she's not eating as much? Akira has been very excited about soup these days, but I have seen Usagi eat and linger at the bowl till she has her fill when she's ready. I'll keep a closer eye on her.
I did get Usagi to eat one of these Vital Essentials Rabbit Bites Freeze-Dried Dog Treats i've been giving Akira today. Or more so Akira did, They both happened to use the litter box in the cage at the same time and Usagi saw how excited Akira was for her treat that she felt she needed to finally get in on the action too.

They didn't eat any slivers last night but to be fair I wasn't the one that prepared their bowls so that might have thrown them off, I put about 1oz of soup on top of the left over slivers and they have been eating it so that's promising. I going to give them 3.5oz with 5 slivers this afternoon.

It happens. My two eat different when my son feeds them. They do adjust and sometimes eat more the next day.

Good girls! Ever catch them eating the slivers? I find it fun to watch them pull and chew - being 'wild ferrets' while they eat.

Yeah sometimes, I try to leave them be when eating so they don't get distracted. I can absolutely hear the "om nom nom noms" though. I think I let them 7 slivers last night 2 old 5 new. they diddn't eat the 2 old so I threw them out this afternoon and then gave them 5 slivers and they ate 2. So tonight i'm leaving the 3 leftover slivers and 2 fresh ones.

They tend to know if the meat is still good. Maybe those two were questionable to them. :-) It's nice to know they are smart that way. You are doing great, by the way. So glad Usagi and Akira are catching on!
