Kingsley, myself and my husband were out on a fairly long walk today (30 minutes or so) on our way out Kingsley pulled to the side to poop and did so with no problems. He was having a blast during the walk and even stopped to dig at a random tree stump for about 10 minutes. When we were on our way home and hit our street he stopped for a split second then continued going, I didn’t even notice him pee. He continued walking with me and my husband called for me and we walked back. There was BRIGHT red blood in his pee. I have a picture but don’t know how to add. Immediately I left for the vet with Kingsley.
The vet said his blatter felt a little bloated so they wanted to X-ray him for potential blatter stones. The X-ray came back negative. There seems to be absolutely nothing wrong in the X-ray. They pumped him full of fluid as well as some antiflammitories and sent us home. I’m monitoring him overnight and have him separated from his sisters. I’m honestly terrified for him.
Though he shows no signs of pain and is acting as his normal self. (Taking into account I only adopted him a little over a month ago).
I have no idea what could be wrong with my little angel..

Did the vet do a urine test to check for possible UTI?

The vet that was works Tuesdays is not as experienced with ferrets as my usual Vet but I’m going to go in and ask about the UTI. Thank you for your thoughts, Sherry.

The bladder isn’t full enough for a urine test today but the doctor said he is going to start King on some antibiotics

that's a good start. If it continues, further tests and an x-ray might be needed to rule out stones.

The first Doctor already did the X-ray to rule out stones, so he should be good there. I’m praying it’s just the UTI and the amoxicillin will clear him right up

I think he may be acting a bit lethargic. Kingsley has never been as energetic as his sisters and normally takes a while to come out and play but all day today he has only come out of the cage to sleep under the bed. He only perks up when I have the door open and he thinks he might be able to go on a walk, otherwise he just lays under the bed. He’s still drinking water and has eaten twice today. I’m worried that he’s being a little too lethargic though my husband is suggesting it may just be the stress and medications.

A UTI makes them feel awful. Antibiotics can as well. And given it takes a couple days for the abx to kick in I'm not surprised he's a bit lethargic. If it gets worse however get him to YOUR vet.

He has been playing with his sisters quite a bit today, as well as almost being a bit more active in general than I’ve ever seen him. Here’s to hoping it remains that way! Thank you all for your constant help and advice. I don’t know what I’d do without all of you!

Make sure he goes through the entire prescription. How are you giving it, and how does he take it? Every ferret I've given antibiotics hated them, so maybe your experience could help

Sorry for the late reply I was super busy with the little guy. I asked for the liquid amoxicillin. They gave me a syringe to use but I only use it to measure he medicine as I’m afraid of squirting it down his airway. I measure out the 0.5 then squirt it into a small bowl. Kingsley hates trying new things so I put one drop of ferretone in the first dose and he was wary to try. Once he did though he fell in love, he takes it as is and even gets excited for it haha! It’s Day 6 out of 10 today, I don’t plan on stopping before the recommended time don’t worry! 😄
