Sadly not too well this year. As an alum, adjunct professor and just now working on my doctorate I will always be a fan. Just have to keep my chin up and be happy the gators are worse. Lol
Daytona is Home! Well, almost. I graduated high school from Flagler Palm Coast High School.

Branch ate EVERYTHING during the night. Going to continue to add in small chunks and the grinds. Get him eating more texture and doing some real chewing? Might try to throw him a chicken wing tonight (pounded on to break it up) and see what he does.
Ghost -- all gone, too.
Cage cleaning day (and laundry). They are sleeping more and more during the day so I'll just wait until they are up and about. Doctoral paper writing day for me.

The boys had a great time today.
Breakfast was gone by both. All bedding has been washed and the cage put back in order. Still keeping them separate but may be by Thanksgiving they might be together. I don't find them sleeping together yet when I put them out to play and then go searching for them. They are camping out in different spots still.
I weighed them a day earlier because I was curious.
Ghost went from 948 grams to 952 grams. Branch went from 916 grams to 929 grams.
I bought two plastic tubs to turn into feeding dens. The cardboard boxes get yucky and I have a hard time finding ones that are of a good size. This way I can wash them if they get icky.

Sounds like both are well on their way! And yes, I found the plastic ones better for in the cage. I still keep a couple cardboard ones around for out of cage as they can always get food out of a closed cage lol. Also if they are eating everything before the next meal it may be time to up the amount you are putting in They should have a couple bites left at the next meal time.

his week's plan for feeding. All feeds start at 2 ounces. Week of 11/19 Ghost Sunday: chicken wing; turkey grind Monday: game hen pieces; chicken chunks and raw egg Tuesday: game hen pieces; heart Wednesday: duck grind; gizzards Thursday: chicken wing; heart, kidney, liver Friday: turkey gring; kitten mix grind Saturday: duck grind; chicken wing Week of 11/19 Branch Sunday: thick soup mixed with a duck grind; thick soup mixed with a duck grind Monday: thick soup with duck grind; thick soup and raw egg Tuesday: thick soup with game hen pieces (little bitty); thick soup with duck grind Wednesday: thick soup with kitten mix; thick soup with kitten mix Thursday: thick soup with a turkey grind; thick soup with some turkey grind, small pieces of heart Friday: thick soup with organ mix; thick soup mixed with organ mix Feeding den creation by my son and husband -- not too bad. Now to see if they like them better than the boxes. They both had some food left in the morning so I think I might have to give more during the day and a bit less at night. Weekends are a bit off as my schedule is way different. Week days I am like clockwork and I think they can tell the difference! There was a bit of cage rage this morning as I slept in! :-) Can they eat all parts of the game hen? I know I was supposed to stick with dark meat but since whole game is all parts I am assuming all parts of this little hen are fine to give.

Oh they definitely notice the slightest difference in routine lol. And yes they can have the entire hen. For Ghost can you pick up some red meat? Beef, lamb, goat, rabbit etc. Those make excellent muscle meats. You can also sliver up and mix in for Branch to get him used to other flavours and textures.

Breakfast was gone when I got home at five. Ghost loved the game hen chunk I put in there - need to put more tomorrow. Branch had what we call 'shnibbles' left which is just like crumbs. But there was a bit left. They did well again playing today. Branch is starting to keep up with Ghost though sometimes I think he just tolerates Ghost at times. The boys still were not camped out today when they went to sleep. Branch is SO much softer. Not filling out quickly but he is getting a bit thicker. His poop is so much better now that he is all meat. Ghost is a big character -- almost seems to smoosh Branch when he lays on him (which he does a lot while playing). Chunks soup and then a bowl of thick soup with duck grind mix top view of Ghost top view of Branch

They are looking good! Just for the heck of it, next time you feed Ghost after reading this, try giving him a whole piece of meat, like a quarter game hen, or a whole chicken wing, drumstick, etc. With the drumstick slash it a bit to get some meat loose. Since Branch is eating such a thick mix, cut pieces about 1/2" by 2" and just wet them down.

I've found for my new girl, ribbing whole bits of meat with salmon oil helps! She loves to oil a lot, and I think she assumes chicken tastes like salmon oil by now haha. But generous amounts of salmon oil works great as bribery

Lol Daytona is Home! Well, almost. I graduated high school from Flagler Palm Coast High School. Only school I went to there was Daytona State College, but I graduated at age 56! My sons went to New Smyrna. Up here in TN with AirTV, I've only seen the Noles twice, and Gator 3 times I think. This whole state is Orange for UT, but they've only had 1 game on network/AirTv all year. They're stinking, too, with their 4th head coach in 6 years. Don't get espn so no Big Game here.

UncleJoe --> sorry to hear not games on the tube. We enjoy our Saturdays and football quite a bit but the house is all boys except me. God knew what he was doing by giving me boys!! Love college football! PegLet --> I haven't found salmon oil so haven't tried it yet. I will start looking for some as I might help with nail trimming. Right now my husband scruffs and I cut quickly. Sherry --> I must not be describing things well about Ghost. I have been giving him chicken wings outright -- no banging or anything and he eats them. My biggest concern is mixing the types of meat for him. Other meats I find the bone is just too large to give him. This morning he got a game hen wing (the whole wing because it was small) This is what was left when I got home from work. Branch got thick soup mixed with turkey/bone grind. The little turd ate the soup and some of the turkey grind but as you can see he left turkey grind. And finally, a photo op with me and each of the boys. I am enjoying having ferrets again. They really touch my heart. My little soulmate, Toby, was my saving grace at college and when I moved 2000 miles away from home for my first job. It is so good to have them in my life again. Ferret math will happen to me -- but I have to wait until the dogs are gone (LOL). Ghost Branch

Oh! I hadn't realized he was on whole meats already lol. In that case, work on other proteins. How is he doing with liver/organ, and heart? With Branch give him the same meal next time, but a bit less. Appetite often adds spice to a meal lol. Has he ever had a blood glucose reading done?

Ghost has been doing well with whole meats -- the chunky soup was more so I was getting the liver/organs in him. He likes pig heart but only moderately fond of beef heart. He loved the pig kidney and tolerates the chicken livers. He likes egg yolk. He loves gizzards. To get him variety I have been using the grinds since I can't find a lot of 'bone in' meats that the bone is small enough. So duck grind and turkey grind have bone in. The kitten grind has bone but also beef, heart, and egg which he seems to tolerate if I mix it with the duck or turkey grind. The cornish game hen seems fine to him but I know that is just chicken so not another source. The rabbit grind is WAY to expensive here so that is out. I still need to see if I can find quail at the Asian market (maybe this weekend). Any other suggestions for other types/ways to get variety with bone in? Branch is starting to do better with his thick soup mixed with the grinds. Interestingly, he does not like egg yolk. He is starting to eat pieces of chicken, chicken skin, and tiny heart pieces in his soup/grind mixture. He seems to be more of a night eater than during the day. Actually both of them eat more in the wee hours of the morning and tend to sleep most of the day. This works as I am working during the day anyway. Happy Thanksgiving! Turkey gizzard, heart and liver for the fluffybutts! Branch the sweetheart Branch mixture with egg yolk he barely touched Ghost's grind mixture and Branch's thick soup with turkey grind in it
