Hello everyone! Just showing off all of my furbabies. I have one cat, three guinea pigs, a hamster, and a dog in addition to my ferret~ First we have Pixel, my raw fed maltese mix. She's a good girl <3 This is Monkey, he is a jerk. His hobbies include growling at everyone who passes my window and glaring at anyone in my house from a distance. I've tried for years to get him to eat raw, and he won't even touch wet food. This is Nym. She's my good child who always allows me to cut her nails without complaint. Next we have Minerva, the neurotic child. She alternates between friendly enough to climb into your arms to running like you are holding an axe above her head. And this is Frisk. I've had her since she was 3 weeks old. She screams all the time... And I do mean all the time. She sometimes yells so loud that she scares the other two girls. This is the Angry Biting Thing. His name was Lemming, but Angry Biting Thing quickly became more fitting. He bites and plans world domination. He has since been moved into a more fitting cage, but this pic sums up his personality the best.

Lovely furbabies, one and all! <3
Hmm, let's see if we can offer some advice here. As for kitty.. well, they can be real stinkers that's for sure. I am currently still on the war path of trying to get ours, Hades, onto raw. I've made progress, we went from crappy kibble to high-end kibble (but kibble isn't meant for any carnivore...) so we went from that and crappy canned/wet foods to high-end, high meat-based percentage canned/wet foods. I've actually gotten the wee snot to eat pates now too.. he previously would never touch a pate for the life of him, and sadly, the more health oriented, high meat percentage producing companies prefer doing pates.
So, how did I get him to eat something like a pate of 96% buffalo wet food? Cheese. I'm not gonna lie, it works. I did my best to not resort to it, but at times, well, we had no choice. Cheddar or a wee sprinkling of parmesan onto the food and mixed in enough that some are easy to get and others you'd need to munch through food to get.
If your cat will take salmon oil, that could work too, mine doesn't care for it though.
And then Angry Biting Thing... oh how I miss hamsters.. I have owned soooooo many over my years. My wee heart creatures, other than ferrets, of course. An aquarium works a h*ll of a lot better for a home for them than cages which they will often chew.. and even break from chewing, much as those always look pretty cool for set-ups. I've simply found the aquariums work a heck of a lot better and if they are kept near your room at night, you can still sleep, no cage-rage or squeaky wheel sounds.. unless you put a wheel in that squeaks by itself.
As for less biting.. while it's best to start early in life with getting them hand-tame, it can be done with patience later on, and plenty of band-aids later that is. It's easier when you offer treats (fresh veggies or fruits, careful with ones that are high in sugars, those should be avoided as they are prone to diabetes) from your open palm, especially for the skittish ones. After enough tries they'll start sitting in your open hand to eat, that's when you can safely start picking them up and getting them more used to being carried around and held without retaliation. I've also found that empty toilet rolls make a great way for them to maintain their teeth in a healthy manner and thus curb human biting more.

I've been working on this butthead for 8 years now. He'll eat high end kibble. But he refuses to touch the following: Raw Meat Canned Tuna Canned Salmon Salmon Oil Raw Fish
He also refuses all wet foods, including Blue Buffalo. Nor will he eat cheese. He will steal french fries but I really am trying not to let him have that so I can't sprinkle that over the food haha.
The Angry Biting Thing has a big old clear storage tote. And I've had him since he was a year old, but he will literally jump to bite you. I've learned just to wear gloves.
He's got whimzees for chewing, I give him a new one as he finishes them. But if my hand is in the cage food doesn't matter. Not even his favorite, mealworms. He just wants to murder.

Ty Sherry <3
And Cait, the Angry Biting Thing thanks you for your support. But if you go near him he will still bite you, as he has a reputation to keep up.

My friend had a dwarf hamster that was vicious, but I wore cow hide gloves and handled him a lot and he became pretty friendly after a little while and could easily be held bare-handed.
