Sun am: turkey grind (s&c or hare today) Sun pm: pork chop Mon am: heart/kidney (and chicken feet for the boys) Mon pm: boneless chicken breast Tues am: bone in chx breast Tues pm: boneless turkey Weds am: chicken wings Weds pm: heart Thus am: chicken necks Thus pm: heart/liver Fri am: Fri pm: Sat am: Sat pm:
Monday am needs to be tweaked, oops. That's what had been bagged up. All I really need to do is change the ratios to add liver in there, correct? Weds pm can be JUST heart, right? My menu is so chicken heavy. I'm going to try to get up early tomorrow to go to the store and get some other stuff. Unless I can get Mike to stop on his way home and pick up Peter from work, and then I can swing by the store on the way home. Peter isn't content to just travel in my bag, so taking him into the grocery store is certainly not a possibility! At least at the pet store I can take him out and carry him! I have 2 days of blank spots. If I cannot get other noms tomorrow I have grinds I can use to fill those. Not ideal, but it'll work! I'm probably going to be placing a Hare Today order either the end of this week or next week too. I have to get eggs for us AND the carnivores, and those will be added in also to our menu.
The cat is getting the same stuff as everyone else. So far, no vomiting except for one hairball on Sunday, even after we've swapped her from that nasty ID prescription food back onto this. I've been chopping her portions into tiny slivers, as I'm wondering if part of her vomiting and regurgitating is due to the pieces being too large for her. When we were on JUST grinds, I didn't have these problems. And giving her larger pieces that she needs to work for doesn't do any good like it does for Sam and Dean.
As for Peter, we just keep trucking along trying to convince him to eat his S&C turkey, and in the mornings and evenings I've been adding small amounts of ground goose to it. We ran out of the treats he was really liking, but I stopped last night to get more and the whole time I was wandering the store for other treats he was trying to break into one of the bags I had in my hand. I got him NV raw boost mixers, the chicken and rabbit. He liked the smell of the chicken ones in his soup but wasn't crazy about the texture, but they weren't fine enough so I wasn't surprised. He ate half of one dry. We got a bunch of the Orijen treats. They didn't have the Original flavor, of course. But I got the Regional Red ones, wild boar, lamb. We got dog ones that say original flavor withi chicken and fish, then duck also. I spent $40 in treats the other day for the spoiled boy.

I've increased Peter's pepcid to 15 units as of this evening. He's in better spirits the last few days, so I'm hoping the pepcid increase will be the extra oomph he needs to eat a little more. He's backing off of his soups in favor of the dry treats, but at least he's eating. I just wish he'd eat MORE.

Argh, two steps forward one step back. Peter had a bit of a rough night. Finally got him to a point where I felt comfortable enough to go to bed. He's a bit quiet this morning but still alert and interactive.
He ate his treats throughout the day with a little S&C soup at lunch. It looks like he ate some of his treats overnight too but not many. But his goose is in 15g portions and through the evening I got him to eat probably half of that plus a small amount of S&C mixed in. When I was trying to get food into him last night before bed he ate almost another 15-20 grams, I gave him some and refilled the bowl. He ate well, started to crash a bit, then ate well after I got him going again a little later. I shouldn't complain, we went 5 days without issue so I expected this was coming.
The cat...ugh, the cat. Sometime between 2am and 6am she vomited up everything she ate. She had boneless turkey last night, and of course scarfed whatever she could from Peter's bowl before I'd been able to get to pick it up (so S&C turkey plus goose grind). Wasn't I just saying so far so good? I want to wonder if it's the turkey, but that canned ID she was eating last week contains turkey. This round wasn't instant like a lot of them are, she ate probably 2 or 3 hours prior. The vomiting though is killing me. Between that and her constantly thinking she's starving.... I doubt it's an issue, but I guess I'll throw on a thyroid panel when we do her bloods just to check. She's only getting bone right now in any grinds she gets or tiny amounts of rib etc because she won't eat it, so I have a hard time believing it's calcium elevation...

Sorry, just got onto the comp! The phone doesn't show my bookmarks to remind me to check here lol. First kitty- how long has she been off dry food? I found with mine for almost 2 or 3 months they vomited a LOT. When you check it you will usually find some fur in there that has been sitting in the stomach for a good long period of time. Peter. I know you really want him just to eat, but do your best to get him eating more actual food instead of treats. If need be grind the treats and sprinkle the food. Change in texture can be a big one for them to get past, but keep working at it, you are doing good :-) If you are doing hare today orders, something that may make your life a wee bit easier is to just give grinds in the morning, and balance the other 7 meals amongst muscle meats, bone, heart, and liver. I'll give you an example of what I feed.
Mon am turkey grind Mon pm pork meat
Tues am chicken grind Tues pm beef chunks
Wed am lamb grind Wed pm whole quail
Thur am rabbit grind Thur pm half meal heart, half liver/kidney(all pureed since the brats are spoiled lol)
Fri am turkey grind Fri pm cornish hen parts
Sat am chicken grind Sat pm stewing goat
Sun am lamb grind Sun pm pork chunks
I mix their egg into their grinds. Makes life easier on me lol. Since I have 5 ferrets, I add an egg five days a week.

Since late June or early July, she's been strictly on raw in some form, be it frozen or freeze dried. No hair in this batch of vomit, just a big pile of dinner. Peter is still eating some goose throughout the day today, a few treats, but I just got him to eat some of those NV raw boost mixers. Which I think are healthier than normal treats? Could be wrong...he is happy with the texture though but not the S&C dry or even that in soup form. I really only got the grinds for Peter, and a little bit for the boys because I didn't expect them to quickly jump to bigger chunks. I figured they'd still need the grinds... I want to get away from the grinds as much as possible, they are expensive and a pain in the butt to portion!

For kitty, try her with proteins other than fowl for now. The mixers do look to be a bit better balanced than just the treats :-) Have you gone to any local ethnic stores/markets to see what else they may have available for proteins? If you can access quail or rabbit those are two good bone sources as well.

The chicken from yesterday morning and evening, and her beef heart last night, has not been spotted around the house so it looks like those settled well for her. I haven't gone to any stores yet, I'm going to try to convince Mike to take me this weekend to them (pay week, YAY). The nearest is a 30 minute drive one way, and mornings are too hectic with Peter before work to be able to get there.
So around me I can source pork, beef (though I try to avoid since it's expensive), and I think lamb in the major grocery stores (same thing though, I try to avoid due to cost). I can order a bunch of stuff on Hare Today too, especially boneless. So basically for the kitteh I'm looking for 4-legged animals, right?
The rabbit mixers are not as well received as the chicken ones. Of course. I think I still have some chicken ones in his mixed baggie at work thankfully. He's killing me here. He ate a lot (for him) of his goose grind through the day yesterday. I found a pack of pheasant that I didn't realize we still had, so brought that up from the freezer to offer too since I'm sure his preferences will change again soon. I can't get him to eat the S&C turkey anymore, that's gone by the wayside.

Peter's poops are less bulky again, which I noticed last time we went off of the stella and chewy's. This one from this morning looked a bit different color/consistency wise though, so I have to take a second look. Possibly just due to the fat content of the goose? Is it OK for him to be eating the fatty goose like this? I don't want to cause pancreatitis just by trying to keep him eating...

Sigh. Goose is off the preferred list. Turkey was "ehh" today. Pheasant is on trial tomorrow.

I'm waiting for his breakfast to be ready (getting coffee here myself too, but Peter comes first!). He's in his sleep sack right now, but he was waiting to come out and play when I just went to do his meds. I'm an hour late, and apparently that is not acceptable to Peter. It's been a WHILE since he's been up and waiting in the mornings. I plopped him in the rice bin, which only lasted about 10 seconds, but he dug and tunneled and got a little frisky. He's not getting as much water in his food lately due to his preferencecs, so he's been making a mess of the water bowl out in the kitchen splashing and drinking it this morning. I don't know WHY he doesn't like to drink when he's in his house...
Dinner last night was a mixed bag, since I was ready to crash and didn't have anything ready. The boys got a chunk of turkey, I think it was some of the back/ribs. I watched them drag that to various hammocks last night depending on who was eating at the time. There is about half of that left over, and part of breakfast from yesterday too. I think I've found the bottoms of those bottomless pits. They've been leaving more and more and don't dive at me when I go to give them their food. Thank goodness, hopefully we can slow down on their food a bit now, they were eating like 2 teenage boys!
Monday and Tink got S&C turkey, which is either gone or stashed, I'm not sure yet which. It wasn't plainly obvious so I think it's gone (Tinker is NOT a good stasher, so hers are always out in the open!). Monday doesn't typically stash that stuff.
Bananey had goose grinds, since I had some already thawed and Peter is on protest of it. I haven't found any presents on the rug, sooo...

Market trip today did not yield as much as I'd hoped. We did get, however: Rabbit (looks like just skinned, though...what the heck do I do with that?). I only got 1 of those because I was a little unsure Bone in chicken thighs (Mike is convinced they can do those...lol) Chicken wings Chicken heart and chicken liver Pork chunks Duck eggs Quail eggs
And I think one other thing but I can't remember what it was, or may have been double of something else.
There's another market a few towns over that I'll check out next, hopefully they'll have more variety. This place had frozen pheasant and chicken, but the same prices i could get elsewhere.
