The oil is fine or try hand feeding them, get the blood on their mouths, usually works. Sorry it has bee a long week at work and I am exhausted!

so last night i gave them 3 chicks and 3 mice all chopped up and mixed together and that mix weighed roughly 180g-184g and I've just weighed their leftovers and they've eaten 120g on their own without me adding any oil or egg

I'm going to say it would be ok to use as an occasional treat but not as a regular meal. Also if you are not going to feed them an organ and heart meal than you will need to go fully to whole prey and FDR to keep a balance. Extra bone meals are going to throw off the balance.

Either replace with the FDR or a whole prey item yes. Can't wait to see how they like them!

i've chopped a hamster in half and they sniffed at it but didn't try it so i've drizzled oil on it and will check back at 3pm also the rats are HUGE!! each one weighs about 500g and are as big as Gizmo so how many meals will i get out of one and how do i prepare them do they need gutting or skinning or do i just cut them into bits and weigh it out. also would warming their prey help to encourage them to eat it as if so how would i do this

You will find that you will need to gut must whole prey items, mice and fish are about the only exceptions just due to their smaller size. Fur and feathers are fine if they will eat them. Depending on temp of the enviroment whole prey is good for 48 hours. You can cut the rats in half and see how long it takes them to eat that and go from there. I really hope that all made sense, I'm exhausted.
