I weighed Loki this morning and he has gained .3 pounds in four days!!! I don't know what weight gain is normal for ferrets but it's amazing the change I'm already seeing since I took away the kibble.

Loki ate almost the whole chicken wing! If only I didn't have to chop it into like ten pieces before he was interested.

Yesterday I gave him a chicken wing for the first time. Does anyone know why he took a chunk of it from his bowl, down to the lower level of his cage and then left it on top of his poop in the litter box? Afterwards, he went back up to his bowl and started munching down on the rest of the wing... Of all places to take the chicken.. why his litter box??

Went to the local butcher and had them course ground a whole rabbit! Loki got it for dinner tonight, and I can hear him chewing on the bones as I write this! It's a great feeling!

What are your grind ratios? Like, the bone content and such.

The turkey I have right now, I'm not sure of. Same with the rabbit and quail. Tomorrow I get the box with the new stuff and they keep their ratios 80/10/10.

Do you mind me asking what your new protein is gonna be?

Of course not! (: I'm getting more rabbit, turkey, and the new protein is whole ground young beef. They said that the bones are more flexible and softer than adult bones. All of the mixes are course ground and are kept to the 80/10/10 ratio.
I was trying to make a temporary menu until I was assigned a mentor so I can't build it better. It's hard to know what exactly to do, especially because almost all I feed him is whole ground /: He has been gaining weight though! He was so skinny when I got him. He is also more vocal and hyper now... Also noticed smaller poop and less smell.
He seems so happy now.

Did they give you an age range for the beef? Like calf or young adult?
