Firstly, the reason why your image wasn't uploading was due to using the wrong format.
The forum doesn't support HTML posts since we use BBCode. Since you are using Photobucket I will show you.
Sounds liek GusGus will need some hand feeding in order to get used to eating chunks.
Next time you hand feed, hold onto the piece until he begins to use his teeth to remove pieces of meat to eat. You could also pick him up and hold it to him. Once he knows he cannot run off, he should start a ripping, side to side, motion if he's hungry. They tend to use the carnassial teeth, on the side of their jaws for ripping or breaking up meat before swallowing. They don't grind or thoroughly chew food down.
Ferrets don't really tend to chew like herbivores or omnivores do. They rip, tear off pieces that are suitable sizes and swallow them without thoroughly breaking it down in the mouth. Sometimes you may see them "chewing" at something fatty but really they are just working at removing it from a larger piece of meat before they swallow it whole. They lack digestive enzymes in the mouth like herbivores, and omnivores do, amylase for example. So this makes thoroughly chewing unnecessary for them.
Ah, there is also something else that I need to address that I forgot to bring up a while ago.
It has come to my attention that you have been asking questions that relate to the transition in the facebook group. In order to help and assist you to the best fo my ability, I really do encourage you to ask all your switch related questions in this thread. I'm super active so I do try to reply as fast as I can. This will not only help me to teach you or advise you, but it will also give me a better understanding for what stage GusGus and you are at in the transition. The facebook group makes for a fantastic place for a quick and easy answer, however it invites not just fellow admin or mentors, but also any general members to comment and there is no guarantee that the information they privide is accurate or sound. As admins,we also do our best to ensure that accurate information is left for people to read and we'll clear up misinformed comments to the best of our abilities, however to save any issues in future, it is always best to keep your questions for your mentor. As your Mentor, I am here for the purpose of helping you with any or all questions you have. There is literally no question you ask that I cannot answer or seek answers from senior mentors. I don't mind if you would like to post to the FB group, just be sure to keep anything that relates to the transition (question wise) to this thread.
Anything emergency related or needing urgent attention, I do not mind if you ask for admin help on the facebook group, or tag Mentors to this thread if I am not currently avaialble. I do prefer it if you messaged me beforehand though. I can guarantee you that in cases for emergencies, I will be online ASAP from the moment that I have been notified. If I am unable to assist at the moment of something urgent, I will let other mentors know and who ever is active will be with you quicker than you can blink. Thank you for understanding!

You may have accidentally picked the HTML one. You want the option below it called IMG. That one is a BBCode for forums.
