Hi all, I have two boys that were raw started when I got them. They were fed frozen cat food from petco. My mom is a butcher so I have access to beef, pork, and chicken. I also have a store that I have access to chicken livers, gizzards, and hearts. I have another store that has access to frozen whole prey. currently for breakfast they get a combo of beef, pork, chicken, with heart and gizzards or liver which ever i have on hand. They get chicken wings once in a while. this is what they get morning and night. I weight it out to 3 oz each. So I am willing to do whatever i need to make a healthy diet for them. Thank you in advance.

the reasoning for my cry out for help is that my ferrets have really dark stool and their urine is very bad smell of ammonia. before i came to the forum i found that i am not feeding enough bone in. they get chicken wings but not on a daily basis. I will look into getting rats from the local feed store. they have frozen or live. I am not sure I could handle feeling live.

So what do you feed during the week? Like protein wise? How often? For example how many meals are you feeding beef? How many meals of liver are you feeding?

The fact that they are eating meat, is a really good start. This should hopefully make transitioning a little easier for you. The first thing you need to do is get an understanding on what a balanced menu should look like. I will post the template in a moment for you and leave any links that are worth having a look.
For now, could you tell us their current ages and what they have tried protein and meat wise so far?If you can tell us what they currently get during the week in the following format, that would help us get a better understanding about what they are currently on and how we can assist and advise you.
Monday AM: PM:
Tuesday AM: PM:
etc...

so they have many different cuts of beef my mom is a butcher, pork, and chicken. They get chicken hearts gizzards and livers
Monday AM: would be a mixture of beef pork and chicken as well as hearts gizzards and livers. 3 oz each PM: same for all meals. sometimes they would get chicken wings
one is about a year and half and the other is about a yr.
as of last night i gave them more chicken wings than I did any other meat.
