I need a harness for ferrets that hate harnesses... I was thinking one of the skinnier almost rope like ones? Mine can get our of theirs and freak out when its on. I thought I had found one that was perfect, but the person who had it on tumblr said I had to be added to a group on facebook and message them in order to purchase, but they never accepted my request to join Any help would be much appreciated!!

I've always just used the Super Pet Ferret Comfort Harness, and my guys don't mind them. However they can slip out it just takes a while. If your looking for a skinnier one however I'd suggest looking on etsy. There is actually some really nice ones on there! Bad luck on the tumblr/facebook scene, well at least you didn't waste your money.

Thanks a bunch, I'll check the one you use out! Also, I never even thought to check on etsy! I don't do much online shopping these days so I totally forgot about it.

This looks perfect! It's along the lines of what I imagined in my head. The one I have now is large and thick and I think that's why my girls dislike it. I want them to be able to forget it's there. On a funnier note, Mauser goes completely limp when shes wearing their current one, and Catalina hides the harness whenever she sees it, so Catalina grabs a hold of the harness and drags limp Mauser under the bed!

I love my Sandia one from amazon! The one I got from the pet store can't go as small as the Sandia one can. Have you tried treating them right after putting it on? I treat right after (I've been baby stepping and slowly treating them as they don't fight me) and after I take it off. Same for baths. I treat right when they go in the water.

There is also a method to make your own harness, it's particularly good for tiny jill/sprites. It's posted on how to make it here, somewhere on here. I have the instructions in a mink book. Mink people in particular like the type because it's easy to make and adjusts to fit the mink ciao

Catalina is quite the personality and your Alpha. She wants to make sure her Mauser feels safe. Practice inside and then put the harness on them while you hold them and walk around outside. My Roamy loves to go outside but he insists on checking out the door to make sure he can get back inside. We do this three or four times before he calms down and is ready for his walkie.

Thanks for the tip, I will check those out! One of my girls is pretty small and the store bought ones are def too loose! I will make sure I treat them from now on for all unpleasant experiances, the power of food is a great one!

@poncesmom I never thought of it that way! Makes it seem much sweeter that Catalina is hiding her and keeping her safe Practice makes perfect, I'll try your method for sure!!

I'm measuring their next and girth sizes tonight when I get home so I can order them the Sandia harnesses! Just gotta figure out if they need the petite size or regular size first.
Also, there are so many pretty colors on amazon! (dance)

Checked the tracking on my package lastnight once I got home and realized today was the projected delivery date.
Says it was delivered to my front door. There was no package, someone swiped it. There's a freaking bus stop literally 5 feet away from my door, why the h*ll would my idiot mail guy leave a package without knocking or having me sign. I live in the middle of downtown.
Going to walk to the post office later today and try to keep my cool while I ask them what to do. Hope whoever is happy with their 2 new light pink and burgandy petite ferret harnesses. jerks.
edit: they re-delivered it today! all is well and i get to give it a try tonight!

We'd like to get harnesses for ours but Floki can EASILY wriggle out of the one we used to use for him. He just rubs his belly on the floor until he's out. Any idea what sort of harness would keep him from doing this?

Hi Lamia, I personally find getting a harness that fits better generally solved the problem. I use the Sandia brand off of Amazon.

@scotswhahae I was directed to the Sandia brand ones by Aftershock (I was having the same problem as you with the rubbing the harness off) Both my girls fit into the petite size, but you can always measure their neck and girth and make sure it will fit. They give measurements for each size on amazon
