For the past week and a half, I've noticed the ferrets' poop is different looking and it smells so bad. I thought it was just overall ferret smell so I cleaned everything in the cage but nope, it's just the poop. Today, I noticed the poop looks even stranger so I got a picture. As you can see, the poop I was concerned about is light-colored and gritty looking but there are also darker, runny poops EDIT I completely forgot to mention their diet lol. We switched their kibble about three weeks ago (faster than I would've liked) but I wouldn't think that would cause weird poops now? We switched them from Marshall's to Wysong Digestive Support and they get Nature's Instinct raw rabbit everyday.

That is a bacterial overload, and they need a course of antibiotics to clear it up Best bet will be to separate the raw feed from the kibble feed by at least 2 hours either side.

Oh no, I never would've thought they couldn't be fed at the same time poor babies!

That's the second poop complaint related to Wysong DS in a couple days. We've had a similar experience with Drs Foster and Smith recently. We mix in a combination of ground kibbles into their raw soupies. Been doing it for years, and suddenly they have a problem. 3 have been on antibiotics. Check your ferts for rectal prolapses. We've had 3 of those. We took out one kibble at a time. It seems to have improved by eliminating the DFS.

Vet checked my Abbey's stool the other day while doing a checkup on her knee. She had part diarrhea and part good stool while there. she put her on antibiotics---too many spore producing bad bacteria for her liking. She is on raw. So sometimes they need some antibiotics. If real smelly it usually suggests bacteria overload. 2 of mine had bacteria overload when first switching. When u opened the door to their room you could smell it Even though abbey's stool did not smell this time-- still needed antibiotics.

We stopped feeding that and the poops have been looking much more normal we even fed a different variety (duck) and no bad poops from that. May have just been a bad bag? I'll still check for the prolapses though and a vet visit for the antibiotics

They are in our room and I scrubbed their litterboxes and everything wondering where the stink was coming from. Much better now though
