I am panicking now both my ferrets fell out of my 2nd story window. I saw the air conditiomer gap cover was pushed out and they were missing. I ran outside and found one far from the window, under a shed. The other I canmot find and am panicking, I the emeegency vets all closed near me today before I found this happened. I fohnd smokey amd she doesmt see, hurt she walks normal and ate a piece of meat, I put her in the tub to keep hee while I I'vechecked the yard for ruckus, I left meat out in difderent spots to draw him to it, I checked with thd neoghbprs mothing. Smokey was standing on her gind legs in the tub to get out but I kmow animals will try to hide their imjuries. She was not bloody and did not make any noise when I moved her.
I have no idea what to do until I can get to the vet tomorrow but I am panicking bexause they should already be there gettimg xhecked and ruckus I feel loke ill never find him or the raccooms will get hi, before I find him.
I feel like a idiot I should nt hv ever left them in my rook with the ac in and now I lost one and the other could be hurt, its like a 16 foot drop how can she be okay after that I know ferrets fall good but 16 feet for a small animal I was shocked she was even alive

I would knock on neighbors doors and put up flyers. You can get a live animal trap but loose cats and other animals could be caught in it instead but it's worth a try. They walk right in and the door shuts behind them.

I'd also check craigslist pets, because if someone did find him they may not want to give him back if they can sell him on craigslist. This unfortunately happened to my friend who lost her ferret.

A neighbor just right now knocked on my door that we had spoke to when we found out, he was walking around in a backyard a few houses away. He did not seem injured, just really dirty and hungry. I am still in awe that I did not find them dead where they hit the floor. 16 feet drop to either concrete or hard dirt, I am so lucky they did not land on the rocks under my window covering holes for the dogs.
I am going to the vet tomorrow morning for xrays on both but I am so worried about internal bleeding, cracked ribs but no vet was open except one 40 miles away and I didnt have money for a taxi or someone to drive. Both are walking normal, smokey was running, hopping, eating, playing and climbing. I just gave ruckus some food as im sure hes starving and I will see if he is his normal self

I let him down in the room and he ran, hopped, chased me, hes eating food and was biting things. Which is good because he wasnt biting at first and he usually does, and I was worried he broke his jaw, hes got a small scratch on his chin. Neither of them showed any sign of pain when I held them to put them away and both were curious, playful and eating.
So one big lesson learned for me is that ferret proofing is by the square inch. For now, they will be staying in the cage in the room and only coming out in the basement assuming they are oked by the vet tomorrow morning, I will not get any sleep tonight. Im going to cover the plastic gap fillers with plywood and screw it into place. And then im going to reevaulate every part of the room before they are allowed to be out without me there

I"m so glad that you have found your wee ones. What a scare. Hopefully your wee adventurers will suffer no ill effects. Unfortunately, ferret proofing never ends and just when we get comfortable the brats find another opening ciao

OMG that would have been terrifying! You are SO lucky to have gotten them both back basically unharmed. They are very good at proving ferret proofing never ends.
