Anyways I just got my little boy Apollo on Friday. I have noticed where his butt and where he used to have his testicles he is really oily. I thought at first he got poop on him or something so I gave him a bath and really made sure he was clean but after he dried he is still really oily down there. I don't know if its because he got neutered? Or did they botch his gland surgery? I don't remember Freya having this issue. I did notice that Freyas vulva was inflamed but once I gave her a bath and got the bedding out of her vulva in a couple weeks it ha gone down and looks good. But I don't remember ever her being so greasy right there. Now when I got him he had just been shipped from Marshalls to Petco the night before so he was just neutered and descented. Thoughts would be appreciative.

It is entirely possible, and has happened to mill ferrets on more than one occasion. Keep a close eye out for possible impaction of the glands. If it DOES happen, have your vet keep track of EVERYTHING, as you may be able to go after Marshall's(or other mill) to cover the medical costs of properly removing the gland(s). If he doesn't impact then he will be fine.

Scoot a lot more meaning like he may not have pooped but just might scoot his little bum around? He smells to me because he was on kibble and we are going through a mini detox stage. Well I assume mini detox because hes really young and probably hasn't been on kibble that long.

2 of the 3 ferrets my tenant has have botched/impacted/abscessed anal glands (they are Marshall ferrets). It basically looked like a big red marble beside their bum. The vet drained them and gave them both antibiotics. One ferret's has come back a couple times after antibiotics ceased and may need surgery. If you notice any redness/swelling beside his bum please take him to a vet

He's also greasy at the base of his tail... it's everywhere down there. And of course I will take him to the vet if I see anything out of the ordinary. I am paranoid! My animals eat before I eat it's a rule in my house, so they always get priority.
