Ok so...they would not even consider the kidney. They sniffed at it once and then just looked at me as if to say "What is this garbage you're trying to feed me?"
They're also starting to be picky with the liver too, they are not getting as excited about it like they do with the other meals. Most of it is left in the bowl come morning. If they like it, it never stays in the bowl (as much as I'd like it too haha) i'd find it stashed in their octopus (which is constantly being washed) or hammock :')
Sand pit is a winner though. Wish i could post videos on here to show you. It's their new favourite thing when they are out of their pen now!

I've never tried to post a video so I'm not exactly sure how to do it, but I do know they have to be hosted offsite.
I can't say I'm too surprised about the kidney, lol. That stuff stinks! Toss some liver and kidney in the blender with a little warm water and serve it as organ soup. We can work on getting them to eat it whole over the next couple of weeks once they get used to the taste, but honestly, some ferrents find it easier to just serve organ soup every organ meal rather than fighting to get them to eat it whole.

Yes I was very aware of how much that smelt haha. It wasn't touched in the morning either so they completed ignored the whole thing. Onto liver and kidney soups!
Do i feed them that soup every organ meal then? even though its liver and kidney, they are ok to have both?
I tried them again this morning with some liver and heart. Heart went down a treat, liver not so much. I'll have to report back later if they have eaten that or not!
Also, i have never seen my ferrets become so obsessed with something like the sandpit! If I close the lid after they go in and not open it for when they come back out, they both sit on the box and start scratching as if to say "Erm hooman - open plz" Ha.

Every organ meal should be half liver and half another organ. They get one and a half organ meals per week. They also get one and a half heart meals per week. Most people combine the half organ meal and half heart meal, so they serve 1 whole organ meal, 1 whole heart meal, and 1 mixed organ/heart meal. But every time they get organ it should be half and half with liver and something else (kidney since that's what you have). If they absolutely refuse the liver/kidney, there are a few tricks we can try but it's much easier if they will just accept their organs!
Definitely need video of the sandpit...

Right ok, not a problem at all. I have got some liver on the defrost to make some liver and kidney soups later! Ready for their next organ meal They have been good with the soups and being spoon fed and took to it very quickly so im hoping for the same result but who knows. Haha I will try to find a way of attaching a video! I don't have a youtube or anything but I do have an instagram where my fuzzies are on!

We had a bit of a struggle this morning with the soup. Didn't take to it at all :/ tried again this evening and still nothing. I now have some nice scratch marks on my arms after their getaways :') long sleeved top next time.
I'll keep trying and coaxing. Going try again tomorrow night. Any tips?

Well, shucks. I was hoping they would just eat it. Let's try serving it as a gravy. Make the soup thin and pour a little over every meal for the next few days. Don't worry about keeping the menu balanced right now; lets just get them to eat their organs and then we can worry about balancing everything. For the first meal, make the organ soup super thin and pour just a couple of teaspoons on whatever they're eating for that meal. For the next meal, make it a TINY bit thicker and add just a tiny bit more, and work your way up to a few tablespoons per meal. Don't give them ANY meal without a little organ gravy on it. The key is to get them used to the new taste without overwhelming them.

So sorry I haven't updated! Been having internet issues. WE HAVE GOOD NEWS! So i tried the gravy thing and they were so hesitant to eat the meat. It was like "Mum, what stuff have you put on this delicious meal?" But eventually they took it. However, last night, I had like a little bit left in the blender so I thought I'd put it into a dish on its own to just try it and Ciri wolfed it down! Triss was still doing the whole "Mum you're poisoning me" act but after some encouragement and holding her to my chest and kissing her head (Shes such a baby haha) she ate of the spoon. I'd say she had three tea spoons! So i've left them a little bowl this morning with some pork to see what happens

Yayy!! Add the gravy to their meals for a couple more days and then serve JUST a dish of organ soup and see what happens.

Ok so they have had the gravy on top of their meals for yesterday and this morning and its gone down well (even though they've somehow got the gravy EVERYWHERE in the cage hahaha) even licked the dish after so it was squeaky clean!
I've noticed that they have an abundance of energy lately! Ciri is even starting to dook now and she never did before. She was quite quiet, only making the odd noise every now and again so that's nice to hear. Triss never stops chuckling haha.

Awww, happy little ferrets! Since they're eating the gravy OK, try a whole meal of organ soup again and see how it goes. I'm going to be away from home for the weekend. I don't know how much internet access I'll have, but I'll try to check in to see how things are going.

Did you have a good weekend?
The girls are doing ok. They still are not taking to the soup massively. Have to give them a lot of encouragement to eat it otherwise they just sniff it and walk away. Unless im sat there with it on a spoon, they don't seem to be interested.
This is strange as when I did the transition to begin with, they took to the soup so quick and ate out of the bowl even quicker so this is new!

But this is icky ORGAN soup, mom! :puke: Go back to serving it every meal as gravy. Let's just stick with that plan for about a week and then we can try a whole meal again.

So doing that and it seems to be fine! Ciri licks the bowl afterwards as normal...ill try to decrease the food thats with it and increase the soup to see if I can trick them somehow haha.
