Friday morning She was running around and doing her normal thing. She ate a good amount of soup.
Friday evening she did not come out of the cage. I went to check on her and she was cold and nose and lips were pale. I quickly broke out the Sub Q fluids and warmed them up. ( to make sure I did not drop her core temp any more than what it already was) She was pretty much lifeless.
I put about 30cc of SubQ into her (she is only 1.8lbs) put her on a heating pad wrapped in her blanket. When we went to bed we put her between us and at about 2am she had gotten down off the bed and pooped and peed in the shower. She then crawled back into bed with us. I thought she had gotten down off the bed again this morning before we got up. We were looking for her on the floor in the bedroom and then we saw movement on the bed.
This morning, She still seemed very much dehydrated, However she was warm and not cold to the touch. She was somewhat interested in food, But not interested in drinking. She ate about 2 T of soup and that was it. I then put another 30cc of SubQ fluids into her. That seemed to make her more sleepy. SO I just wrapped her up and put her to bed.
So there she sleeps. She is 8 years old and I know when they get older they can get sick for just about any reason. It always seems to happen on a Friday or on the weekend when the ferret vet is closed. The emergency vet the last time I went there was a little rough with Elli and had pulled her fur out scruffing her, So I am not fond of their treatment. Not sure if they would do anything besides put SUB Q in her anyways. They know nothing of treating ferrets and probably would not know how to interpret a blood test for a ferret. But if things start to turn for her I will have no choice but to take her in.
