Here is our tiny little baby, Cookie. She is very small (was the runt of her litter) and partially deaf. We have just had her for three days. She is a very busy girl and it's really hard to get a picture of her as she won't hold still!! These are the best pics (out of like 30 I took) Seen here with my 16 year old who is very petite and 5'1" tall (so you can reference her size) Also, picture of her and Wiley sleeping together - he is one or two weeks older than Cookie and wraps almost all the way around her!

She's adorable Yes, with those markings she would indeed be deaf. It doesn't make any real difference. They handle it all very well ciao

I didn't know you could tell from their markings. Interesting! I didn't think of it as a problem or a setback.

She's got a lot of the markers....wide white blaze is the key marker but she's also got spotted belly, white dot on the base of the tail, white knee spots and she's a silver. She also appears to be a waardy too which is also a deaf marker ciao

Facial structure is slightly different. Eyes appear to be wider apart. Forehead bump appears more pronounced. And from her face shape I'd say she is more likely 8-10 weeks old. Many females are simply tiny 6 week old babies tend to have much blunter faces This is a six week old's face

Help with ferret words - what is a blaze? And what is a waardy? A blaze pattern, ferrets which has a stripes that goes through their masks and along the back of their heads are blaze ferrets though some have just the stripes along the back of their heads or just through their masks. A waardy is a ferret that has waardenburg syndrome which is genetic disorder that causes deafness that most blaze and panda ferrets have, silver ferrets and DEWs carry the gene too which is why you should not breed them together.

Thanks! Are there other health problems that come along with Waardenburg syndrome or is it just the deafness?

Oh! Thanks for the link, that helps! It does explain some of her behavior. Sometimes she walks funny. She runs into things a lot. She has a very short attention span. None of these are bad things, I am just glad to know of potential issues now. My sweet special baby. Awwwww <3

Congrats on the new addition! That's cute that she's so tiny, she makes Wiley look huge! She does. After holding her, when I pick up Wiley I feel like he is giant and fat! I have to remind myself he's still a baby too.
