I use salmon oil on the belly and human toenail clippers. I can have 4-5 done and all lined up on the sofa licking their bellies lol. The trick is learning to go fast Brushing I use a rubber static brush and a kitten slicker, I need to get a furminator. Ears just a drop of olive oil in each and their friends clean their ears quite nicely lol

Just went through that article quickly. There are a number of things I disagree with, and will go through it at length tomorrow. For now let me say- do NOT use mineral oil around ANY animal. Ever. It is way too easy for them to inhale micro particles and those coat the lungs permanently. As if ingested can cause some pretty serious issues depending on a few factors.

They watched him and followed his lead. He also helped litter box train everyone.

Hello there! I was wondering what most of you use to clean their ears? Thanks! Mariana

A wee bit of olive oil rubbed in, and if they don't clean each other's ears, a swab just on the outer aspect.

For ear cleaning I just use a dry cotton swab, one for each ear. They squirm a little bit but not enough to disrupt my cleaning.
For nail clipping I've been using that one that I showed on my thread. It is like normal nail clippers but with a guard on front with a hole, it keeps me from cutting too close and I can cut them fast before they can pull away. Salmon oil is a must.
For general care I brush them every one or two days and if they get too oily I just do a wipe down with an unscented baby wipe.

I use baby wipes to clean outer ear areas and a soft baby brush for grooming & tiny slicker brush for spring when they shed the most. Nails - I use small pet clippers.

Thanks for the link! It's amazing how fast their nails grow on raw. On Orijen I could go 2-3 weeks before trimming, now its weekly. I periodically use baby wipes or dry shampoo for kitties/puppies if they are getting a little too odor-rific However, we are getting a (long grain) rice dig box, which will hopefully help absorb some of their oils. Though, Bears winter coat is very yellow & I like it Tonight I will be cleaning all my ferrets AND dogs ears using the linked technique. In the past I've always uses store bought stuff to clean their ears, which they've never been thrilled about.

Thanks for the link Sherry! I only have one ferret so no help for me For nail clipping, I do use the 2 people method, I'm yet to introduce Rino to any fish oil. When I do so, I will try the oil on belly method, he does not like lying on his back though so not sure if he will enjoy it hehe. I never knew you had to brush ferret's teeth until recently and he is still kibble fed (switching to raw on the works) so hopefully I'll get him to chew on bones soon

If you think clipping a ferret's nails can be troublesome, try clipping a box turtle's.
You spend over 20 min. playing peek-a-boo with their hind legs as they can close up their shell, and believe it or not, they are stronger than a ferret. sometimes I feel like I'm going to rip their foot off playing tug of war once I snag a foot. lol
