So, Willy had a traumatic experience when he came to me. Bear is a sassy pants, and the moment I put them together it was a fight. We did try the "wait it out", letting them fight as long as there was no pee/poo, or blood. Willy ended up with a sprained paw & a week of cage rest. Earlier this week we started the " exhaust them, then introduce them" which worked quite well. They could be out & about together, just avoid/ignore. We still kept them separate, until we could be sure a brawl wouldn't ensue as soon as one got more energy. This morning when I left, they were on either side, divided by fence lined with plastic. Neither of them had ever climbed it before (without a toy to climb in first). Tonight I get home & they're snug as a bug, sharing a blanket. They're both alive & uninjured. I don't know what happened, but I'm happy to not have to do separate playtimes anymore

It's a start. Bear is still very wary of of Willy. Hisses when he is no where near her. Screeches when she hasn't been touched. Which is odd, since she climbed into his side of the room. They aren't kept together unless I'm home, just in case. I also put Bear in the cage overnight since we cannot figure out how she is escaping. But also, when she screeches, it makes my dog bark like crazy in the middle of the night. I'm hoping Bear will realize that Willy means no harm overtime.

Sometimes it's like someone throws a switch, and the fighting stops and the buddying starts. I hope this is the start of a great friendship.

3 days and they have had very few, very short (5 seconds is a long one) scuffles. So I put them down to one bed & one dish of food. It seems to be going well; no screeching, no hissing. So far so good.
I hope they become friends. Ferrets can play together in ways I can't play with them.

That's awesome! I have a similar situation with my alpha and the new girl I brought home. I am really hoping that I can have similar results soon.

I haven't heard any screeching (Bear) in 2 days now. I took them for a walk together Tuesday.
Today I put Bear in a wire wastebasket (their favorite toy - NO bags) and Willy was sniffing & dooking. Bear hissed lots (she hisses at everything). He clearly wants to be friends, but she won't let him near her. Then I scruffed Willy & let Bear sniff him. Then I scruffed Bear & let Willy sniff her.
I put them down, came back 5 minutes later they were both in a tunnel. The SAME tunnel. No screeching. No hissing. Bear would back out, WAG HER TAIL (she wags her tail, its so cute), and run back in. But like usual, Willy gets bored and goes to bed. I think he really wants to play, but she doesn't understand that he is friendly.
