I've fallen for 2 wonderful ferrets and I'm trying to forget about them... Help me!
I won't list all the reasons I want them are they are obvious! lol
But one is an escape artist, really muscular (unlike my current three) and a huge! With rodents in the house having a ferret that is prone to escaping isn't a good idea. And being so big and strong I would be worried about putting him in with my three. Korra wouldn't be happy, but might settle eventually. I would hate to see any of them fight but Bolin is a little slow and lazy and then Mako is disabled so would struggle to get away or fight back.
I think the other one might have an enlarged spleen, I'm not sure but the way his stomach looked reminded me of Bolin. Which brings me on to the cost of it all. Day to day is fine, bit of extra food (well probably over double what I currently feed as these are big boys), more puppy pad changes. But vet costs, can I really afford two more? And space, how much room does a group of 5 need, assuming I could get all 5 together. Mako needs a single level cage. If they don't all go together I'm not sure I could fit another cage somewhere permanently, it could go in the spare room but ideally it needs to be able to go elsewhere while guests are staying.
Oh and it seems I'm far from the only person who wants these two. It sounds like they might be reserved anyway, although that can always fall though. So please help me focus on all the downsides, and tell me that I really can't afford and don't have space for 2 additional ferrets. My OH would rather wait a few more years and get some kits from a really good breeder.

Yeah, I do need to focus on Mako. He takes up a lot of my time and finances. But on that note of course I would do introductions initially through bars and holding them. If they wanted to dominate Mako at all I would have to keep the two groups separate. The other two are so sweet and caring with him, there is always someone cuddling, grooming or sharing food with him. I wouldn't want that to change.
I brought Bolin into bed for a cuddle last night, I was so happy that he's just so chilled and sweet. I feel so lucky that my three are so good now. Really I shouldn't rock the boat.

I was thinking similarly about a real pretty one that would come from a raw feeder moving to Cali... It took so much to close the tab with her picture, but I really can't afford another ferret unless I find a better job (or more commissions, I'm a freelancer).

Yeah, really finances are a bit tight. I could afford insurance for two more but if they didn't cover something I would struggle to pull the money together. And while I could save up for a vet fund, it probably wouldn't be in time to get these two as they are both so perfect! haha
In all honesty if I hadn't of spotted the first big male I wouldn't be thinking about adding any more to the family. Something about him just pulled at my heart and I can't stop thinking about him. And his 'little' friend is almost identical to Korra, who I think is the prettiest ferret ever!

I would worry a lot for 1: escaping and going for your rodents 2: extra vet bills. I also have rodents at home and even though Sherlock is in a secure escape-free cage, you never can be 100% sure. So I keep him in my bedroom and my rodents have their own room. If you have the space for that, I'd consider having the ferrets in a seperate room if you have a new escape artist. In the case they do get along, their health doesn't seem to be ideal so... you will have to go to the vet often, five ferrets are expensive to have with so many of them with health problems. Even if I was really in love with the pair, I wouldn't go for it if I couldn't be 100% sure I could deal with the worst case scenarios. If you are thinking about getting a kit, I believe you may have bull ferret breeders in the UK (In Spain we only have 1 and the breeder gets them from the UK) and bull ferrets are MASSIVE, really big and muscular, usually with very fluffy fur too. They are great but a bit pricey (at least here they are). Its really up to you I hope you make the right choice!

TBH while I think kits are adorable I seem to be more drawn to adults. There is a breeder (in fact I think she's a member here) that I have looked at a few times who breeds and her males seem to grow quite large. But this guy is gorgeous. Just everything about him is amazing. But yeah, having rodents, him escaping, the possibility they wont get along with my trio and vet bills... I guess it's not meant to be. I mean his friend could just be a bit chubby, but he reminded me of Bolin's shape. I'm sure there will be plenty in the future, and he has a number of admires so I'm sure he wont be there for much longer.
I shall try to stay strong and be sensible about it all.

I would like a bull boy later, but I don't know of any in the US that breeds them here. I really am just looking for the biggest boy I can find (to go with the smallest girl).

The rescue also has a teeny tiny girl! She is super super small, never seen one that small. Curled up she is about the size of my palm and she's at least a year old and in season to boot. She was recently found.

RedSky, that sounds like my Layla. She's seriously the smallest ferret I've ever seen full grown!

I prefer the big chunky ones. I love my little girl but she's not that little. With this one I'd be worried about where she can get and get stuck. I'd be worried letting her free roam. She's similar size to my hamster! haha

Oh yes the big ones r the prettiest, but was thinking of fattening that little girl up. I can be a sucker for things that need help.
Personally, I am a little miserable with two businesses---just thinking of that, should you get the big one--- and you have to keep it separated from ur disabled boy.
You have heard the the tune---The Thrill Is Gone (lol)
Right now my senior is in Marshall playpen while my baby and Annabelle r playing. So now I got to make sure she can play with Annabelle later on in morning---no need to keep her in isolation.

Yeah making sure that two groups get enough time out of the cage would be difficult. I'm going to be good and try to focus on my wonderful trio. While they have tugged at my heart I am sure that in the future when I have more money, time and not so many rodents that I will find some that are perfect for us.

I know this is an old thread but I'm gonna give you bonus points for naming your ferrets after Legend of Korra characters
