Just checking in, hope you and Teddy have had a good weekend and can't wait to see what he is up to these last few days. You have been so good at checking in at least once a day I'm a little worried about you. I don't want you to think you have to check in everyday at this point but you have been so the change in pattern leaves me hoping all is well with you and yours.

So sorry! My grandson was born early unexpectedly in OK. He is ok. Just tiny. Actually doing well. I also had to return to AZ for my one year post-op on back surgery. Apparently sometime between now and this past March, I fractured my L4 vertebrae around one of the screws in the bone. I also have osteoporosis. So I am back in my brace and taking Grow Bone with my Fosamax. I can doing nothing for the next six months. If it has not healed in six months, will have to have another surgery. So I have been a little distracted. I will also be gone from September 26th through October 8th to OK to care for the baby. Teddy is doing awesome and has been eating like a pig again. I am sure he is over 5 lbs now. Did not poof for almost 3 weeks and when I walked in the door last night from being gone, he got so excited to see me he poofed big time and sent my husband running.....LOL! Only a ferret Mommy can love him through the stench! We are doing great and working on more whole prey. He just eats his heart and organ mixed into a grind. His coat is soft and shiny. And he is adorable, and lovable, and sweet, and amazing, and cute, and, and, and........LOL! I love him!

Oh how exciting, a new baby! I'm glad everyone is doing well. How about another menu update? I was going to ask about the poofing but now I don't have to, it's nice to know you were missed isn't it? :heehee: I'm sorry about the fracture and having to wear the brace, guess hubby will have to do all the chores for a while... :evil4:

Menu looks really good. I did notice Monday is only 5.5oz instead of 6 like all the other days, not sure if that was a mistake but the math all adds up for proportion :goodjob: If your worried about him not eating all the heart, maybe replace a muscle portion with an extra heart portion instead. Do I remember right and you have some rats too? Has Teddy tried that yet? You are building up a great variety for him!

Congrats on the grandbaby!!!! :boing: And I'm sorry about your back. Fingers crossed for no more surgeries - I hope you get better without it! Glad to hear that the baby and Teddy are doing well though. Your variety is looking great! How is Teddy doing on the bones? RE the heart and organs, is he still picking those out of the whole prey when you give it whole?

My bad on the Monday 5.5 oz. Add an extra mouse. Teddy is iffy on the rats and rabbit.....still working on that. On the whole prey he usually eats the whole thing....sometimes leaves the intestines. He loves the rib cage of anything! Loves egg yolk too. Just really does not like heart and organs so I have to disguise them in grinds.

If he is eating all of the whole prey except the intestines that is a good thing, he is eating the heart and other organs with it! When you are able to place your order for the frozen prey yourself maybe you want to think about making whole prey the main part of his diet so that supplementing extra organs and heart is not needed as much. Whole prey can be pricey but I do not think it is as pricey as commercial grinds.

I think it varies depending on who you order from. I haven't priced it out ever - might be worth doing!! Whole prey is, of course, the absolute best diet they could get so if you can afford to make his diet heavy in whole prey, I strongly advocate that!!

Yes. October will be here soon and with cooler temps. So I intend to place an order soon.

That will be great! You can't get any more species appropriate then that! :boing: Pop Quiz time, You have forgotten to take Teddy's morning meal out of the freezer the night before so everything is frozen! You have two choices for a "quick thaw", A) pop it in the microwave for a few seconds B) run it under warm water for a bit Which is the better/safer choice and why?

And part 2 of the Q: do you need to thaw it?

Run under warm water. Microwaving can cook it partially. Also, they tend to (or Teddy does) like his a little frozen.....especially his mousicles!
