1) Ship the animal out of state. 2) Return the animal to the point of origin, if outside of CA. 3) Destroy animals.
Destroy animals sounds so heartless, like burning a piece of paper

Clicked the link, had to respond. I refrained from offering rescue services to any ferret owners defending the California ban, but it was a close call. Some people!

Just be so careful. On craig's list, forums, AND Facebook. They have before and will again troll ferret lists looking for Cali owners when they are bored

I really hope that's not true... why would you DESTROY ANIMALS??! if they are illegal to have, couldn't they just send the animal to a proper animal care center? Safari, zoo or whatever that will keep the animal safe? because where would you ship a hedgehog anyways??? In Mallorca there is a "protection programme" Where every now and then a group of people go to shoot and kill Goats that are not the pure native Mallorcan breed because they think they are "invading" their territory, when they are perfectly balanced and share their territories without disputes! Thats so unfair... they could just give them to a farm or rehome them, even though they are wild, they are very tame with people. No need to kill animals!!

Hey- it is much better now than it used to be. If you were caught either entering California with a ferret, or a ferret was found in your home, it was destroyed right then and there in front of you. At least now a vet is used for euthanization, or it will be shipped to a shelter out of state(you pay)

Why would anyone in their right mind want to live in California anyway?

Good thing they have the option to ship the animal away to a shelter now. But still... thats so wrong I didn't know California was like that.

Very few seized California ferrets are euthanized, there are a couple of groups that are licensed and volunteer to drive them to a shelter in a neighboring state. As a mater of fact Fish and wildlife are required to contact them before they euthanize any ferret. The fish and wildlife would be under so much more heat if they started killing domesticated animals.
in fact someone in Santa Anna just had 16 ferrets seized and they all got safe passage to a Shelter in a neighboring state.
I am glad my ferrets are no longer contraband. (moved out of California last October) I vowed never to go back until ferrets are legal.

No, I am talking about several years ago, before a huge uproar about domestic pets being killed.

With or without ferrets, I would never choose to live in California.
