Hi everyone in the uk a word of warning be extra vigilant as warm weather can kill and we are in the middle of a heat wave spray you ferrets a couple of times a day and if possible place an ice pack ( wrapped in a towel )or a ceramic tile in the corner of the cage for them to cool off on when spraying make sure to give the heads a good soak ( the brain cooks first causing heat stroke and fits ) I have wet towels hung up all over my ferret house and have soaked the floor just to keep temps down stay safe and pray for good fashioned cold and wet English weather soon ! take care bye for now Bev

Thanks for this reminder, I think we sometimes forget that heat doesn't affect just us. I was at work on Wed.when it was really hot,I got a touch of heat stroke. I was sitting in the office and suddenly thought of our two ferrets I called home and got my daughter to put them in the bath with a little water, they didn't like it lol but at least it cooled them down.

Even for humans--- head wetting is a good way to cool down(good way to reduce fever too).

My 2 have been getting wrapped ice packs in and out of cage and a good spray down a few days times, much to pinkies disapproval, she seems to think water is evil, lol Even so its noticeable how much the heat affects the poor things.
