Oh that is really cool. I want one of those. Let us know how it works. If Nei is overly itchy and you know how itchy ferrets are, then try adding some more fat to her diet. You already know that baths will dry out her skin, so maybe a little extra fatty meat. She's already getting salmon oil. You're lucky though, it's so humid here. If you leave a wet wash cloth out, it's mildewy by the next morning. Some day, I'm going to live someplace with no humidity. Defiantly, I won't give her a bath unless she gets really soiled and only with water.

Nei didn't eat much yesterday. She had a problem with her evening meal of chicken livers, She wouldn't eat them unless I gave them to her by hand. She did eat all her pork down to the bone this morning, so that's good.
Got some fresh beef with nice marbling in it for her this evening. She was a dooking machine gun when I played with her this new toy I got. It is just a feather lure with a tiny bell. She goes nuts for it and goes dokdokdokdokdokdokdokdokdokdokdokdokdokdok when I race it around the room. lol

I wish you had a video of that. Nei was having so much fun, and I know you were also.
She might not have been very hungry or maybe she doesn't prefer liver. Hand feeding her was a good idea. :wave3:

We're both still getting over the flu too, I'm sure that's part of it also. Still, she is quite heavy for her size with a nice belly lol.

Yeah, she pigged out this evening. I think the heat plays a big part of her apitite. I'm going to start just leaving very little out after morning and make her meals big in the evening (until the summer heat is gone). That way I won't be wasting so much meat (I end up throwing a lot away from morning meals). This evening was the first time Nei fell asleep in my arms. She got a good half hour nap on my chest before having to bolt to the litterbox lol. I also been periodically setting the pet carrier down for her to get comfortable in and around it. It is really cool, I found it off ebay and not only is it a perfect size for a single ferret, but it is completely machine washable and you can unzip it to fold it up. Foldable Pet Carrier

Are Aloe Vera plants safe for ferrets? I had a leaf out and she took it and chomped down on it. I took it away before she ate more than just a nibble. I don't mind if she likes the taste of it as long as it's not poisonous to them. It isn't for cats or dogs but just wondering.

I removed the rice today, I seen that she has ingested a lot of it and was in every one of her poops. I'll have to settle for something larger like plastic balls. Not those pop & play ones (they can be chewed and are dangerous) something made of a hard plastic.

The Marshall's Pop and Play balls are horrible because they can be easily chewed by ferrets (and create blockages). Here is a great alternative, wiffle golf balls. Same size, weight and made out of hard durable plastic.

I made a dig box for my boys using discounted easter eggs. I know its the wrong season, but just a thought. Liam also likes to fish them out of the pool I made for them. I didn't know that the Marshal pop and play was dangerous to them. I'm glad I never got it.

Same size, weight and made out of hard durable plastic. The Pop in Play playbox is great though and it has a hole on two sides, for them to crawl into. It can be turned upside down, you can pick them up in it and swing them gently around, it can be a King of the Mountain game. I just replaced the balls with balls from the dollar store that can be chewed through.

I didn't know that the Marshal pop and play was dangerous to them. I'm glad I never got it. I always wondered about rice boxes. The eggs are a good idea. Some people use beans and that seemed dangerous to me. I've used leaves in the fall, sand in the summer and one time only, Ponce got a dirt box for Christmas. He loved that but got so dirty and it made such a mess.

She loved her cornish hen this morning, lots of tiny bones to bite through.
Nei started getting into a grooming habit with me. Woke up twice today with her scratching my head and licking my face. At first I was nervous because if I got her excited she might have taken a chomp on my eyes but she was interested in just cleaning them (a relief). Found myself doing ferret sleep cycles because she won't let me sleep when she is awake lol.
She gained weight since last week. 1.52 lbs.

Just would like to note I'm ending this thread. Both Alice and Nei are eagerly eating everything I serve them now. I have a ready supply of all the meat I need and I keep inventory of their monthly schedule. The below is my final plan.
Thank all of you for your guidance and information that helped me get my fuzzkids the best diet possible.

lylesHeather has a question for you on your menu: I would like to know what chinese pork ribs are. If they are just ribs (as in garlic ribs) then the ferrets might be hard pressed to eat that bone. I find the bone amount a bit low. Even at a glance if you've got a muscle meat to counter every bone meal you're running a bit short on bone
We have also begun giving an exam to self taught new to raw ferrents. We do this with Mentees who have a Mentor. It's completes their Graduation process. I will post an exam for you after we hear back from Heather in regards to your answer. This is normal for graduating, it's important to make sure that your little ones have a properly balanced diet and that their ferrent has a good understanding of what their nutritional requirements are. :wave3:
