I felt a little lump in Loki's tummy and he seemed off. He is shedding quit a lot so I figure it's a hair ball. I gave him a week and he started to not poop as much and started to act off. Not wanting to play and walking and laying on tummy. So I did blockage protocol for four hours. He had one poop and no pumpkin in it. Do I continue with the protocol? I don't want to make him sick..

You gave him a week? Didn't you consider going to the vet? Please, call one up at least so they can help you out. These little ones are very delicate and you shouldn't let so much time pass if you notice something wrong :/

He needs to go to the Vet. You found a lump in his tummy and posted about it, last week. When you did the Pumpkin protocol, you didn't see any pumpkin at all? The protocol is One tablespoon of pumpkin One hour later a teaspoon of vaseline One hour later a tablespoon of pumpkin One hour later a teaspoon of vaseline Between the third and fourth hour, you should see the first poop. It should be orange and full of pumpkin. Then he should have two or more poops at least, over the next few hours. At this point, I think I can safely say, it's time to go to the Vet and ask for a barium xray. That can help push a floating blockage or blockage through. I'm hoping that by the time you read this there has been some action from the vaseline/pumpkin regimen. It's never wrong to take a pet to a vet. If his bowel and eating patterns have been off for a week, get him in now.

If you're doing the blockage protocol and nothing is coming out, it's time to vet immediately.

I agree. Vet now, especially if this has been going on for a while and you see no relief.

He is pooping. And I saw minut traces of pumpkin but not like a big pumpkin poop. He is playing and eating and drinking. Just seems slowed down. He is a bit peppier since the protocol. So I'm wondering if I should continue one more round? It ill take to the vet soon. I hate to say this but I don't have any money. Like none. So I can't take him in ?

I am so sorry for ur situation.
Do you have any chicken around? You could feed some fatty skin to your ferret. I know how traumatizing the protocol can be.
Mine did go stick her head under something as she did get sick of it.
ALTHOUGH NOT FORUM PROTOCOL you could try Ferret Lax by Marshall Farms. It has petroleum in it. HOWEVER, if your ferret has insulinoma, I would try to stick with protocol and do the best you can ---maybe a half teaspoon of vaseline mixed with something tasty like egg yolk. I have never tried warming vaseline to make it runny but if you can make it runny add some warm egg yolk? (just thinking off top of head here).
I am just trying to get your little one to take it , as they will flat refuse it after a while unless they love vaseline--my does not.
If ferret does start vomiting from blockage--it is fatal from what i have gathered. You may need to throw yourself on the mercy of the vet in this situation. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

With the blockage protocol you should see a big orange pumpkin poop. If he is pooping very little and not much pumpkin came out, I'm sorry but I think that is a partial blockage and it can get worse...i've been through one blockage surgery and two partial blockages, and I can tell you they can decline very fast and sudden...

Please don't chew me out, I'm new at all this and I don't have a lot of money for a ton of vet visits. This is a kind and gentle place. Our main concern is for the little ones, in this case, your Loki. He needs vetting or you may lose him. Is there someone you can go to for help? Call around to local rescues or shelters and see if they have some way of helping. You may find an emergency fund set up for this kind of situation or a Vet who will offer assistance for free or for paying down the bill over time. msav is in your part of the country, maybe he will know of some help from the ferret community.

I'm sorry but if you're not seeing any improvement after following the protocol for several hours then you're going to have to vet. This is the method that offers the best results. Any vomiting means that the blockage has become very serious and you no longer have any time to play with it. There was a lady on the FB page right now who is getting condolences for her wee boy. You don't have a lot of time to react. There are various methods of financial support as offered by Poncesmom. ciao

I do have another question. He is pooping every time he wakes up. Does this mean I'm over reacting? And I just am worried to much and reading to much into stuff? Is it possible what I'm feeling on his tummy is just an organ? He seems slowed down until he potties an then he's playful for about an hour or so then sleepy. It's hit here but I can keep it as low as 75 in my house and he has an ice pack in his cage. Is the heat slowing him down and that's why he lays on his tummy on my hard wood floor? And he hates his litter box so I think he is holding it till he gets out to go potty.
