I wash mine "occasionally" because I let them play on the beach, in the back/front yard, and around the animal allowed stores, plus EVERYONE who sees them HAS to hold them . Mainly their pawsies, but sometimes everything just because of the germs and parasites they can come across *gross* like other sick animals or who knows what else!

I bathe mine only when its needed. (Like the other day when Yuki ended up laying in his litter =.= Or the time Yuki was wiping his nose and ended up going straight into some accident poop then ended up getting it on his coat..yuki please. =A=) They each bathe one and a time and I let them relax in the water for a bit and shampoo at the very end of their bath time. I use a shampoo that is more natural without harsh chemicals. ^^

Once every couple of months I will drip a couple drops of organic Unscented baby shampoo in my huge garden tub. Fill with 5 inches of water and let them swim. I rinse them off under the sink (they mostly hate me for that step. Then it's play time in the clean towels, followed by play time in my closet, up hubby's pants, in our bed, generally anything they know I wouldn't like.

i used to bathe if only if they got into something.
now I just spot treat the soiled area of the ferret.
I also used to bathe once a year.
the ferrets will self bathe, on warm days if I just leave the shower on, 4 of my 7 will fully drench themselves while the other 3 will just lightly mist themselves.
My ferrets smell like grape candy or tortilla chips, and sometimes they smell like new athletic shoes.
They get an ear cleaning about every 3 months, I used to have to do this weekly when they were on kibble and there were chunks in there. Now they hardly have anything in there.
Nail trimming is still weekly, this is a must any longer and they start getting their nails caught on slings and hammock. I once had a ferret have his entire nail and the tip of his toe ripped off from being stuck on a sling.
