Koufos's situation has not improved. He still has green poops, he has a very red sore butt that has made his whole rear end area red. We are giving him 30cc SubQ fluids daily. we are feeding him 40 CC of soup twice a day.
He went to see the vet today. They did xrays, they did full blood panel.
I still don't have any answers, except for Meds. She suspects a bacterial infection. here are the meds that we are giving koufos now.
.1ml of Famotidine twice a day .1ml baytril twice a day .5ml Sucralfate every 8 hours .1ml Cerenia injection once a day .25ml Amoxicillian twice a day.
With any hope he will start feeling better.
On a good note. they did not see any tumors, or anything abnormal in the xrays or blood test.
I am hoping that the meds will knock out this infection and he will be back to normal.

How long has he been on the meds? With Socks's recent bacterial infection I saw improvement in activity about three days later and poops started to improve at about day 7 or 8.

I hope the Meds kick in soon and Koufos feels better. I also noticed an improvement in Roamy after about 3 days on antibiotics. Hooray for the good news. (dance)

He has been on the amox for about a week.
We just added the Bayril and the Cerenia today and so far only had one dose.
If we did not have the SUBQ fluids on hand he would have for sure been in trouble. He has had the constant runs for 3 weeks now. I have tried everything. Slippery elm, carnivore care, pancreatic enzymes, ect

He's vomiting ? Do you have the results of the blood work ?

he has not vomited at all. but the vets suspects an upset stomach because he has interest in food but he does not eat unless syringed. He takes the food from the syringe willingly but he is grinding his teeth the whole time.
If I give him an ASF rat he will chew on it for a little bit but then stop without eating any.
I initially suspected this was his tooth, but it seems that it was a stomach issues all along. His tooth still needed to be done regardless. It just was not the pain problem we thought was causing him not to eat.
She did not give us the print out of the blood work I will request that on Monday.
we just need to keep him hydrated and fed until the meds start to do their work. Hopefully he will pull through.

Is he still pawing at his mouth?

He has not pawed at his mouth since the last time I wrote that. I think that was some pain from his mouth after the surgery. His mouth has healed up quite nicely and his gums are not red anymore. Even the extracted tooth looks like it is all healed.
He chews on the syringe when we feed him (has pretty much destroyed the end) I don't think the tooth pain is an issue anymore.

There is no more tooth pain if he's chewing the syringe, but there may be some GI pain if he's griding his teeth.
After what you are telling I'm thinking about IBD. If he's not vomiting i don't see the point of Cerenia, i would be more interested in giving him something to stop that GI pain, probably prednisolone ( as if it's IDB it would show some improvement )

I will ask my vet about Pred. As I have plenty of it now for Ellie my Insulinomic ferret.
Perhaps we can do a short trial of it to see if it helps.
My vet believe that since he shows interest in food but does not eat that it could be nausea even though he has not thrown up. That is why she prescribed the Cerenia.
I think right now we are at the stage where we are diagnosing through treatments to see what he responds to. I believe she is trying the most passive treatments with the lowest side effects. Not exactly sure though.
But I will ask questions to the point of annoyance.
Does anyone know if there is any reactions with Pred and the meds he is currently on.
Just curious what I would have to remove to add the pred if the Vet says it is ok to try it.
If Pred helps how long would it take to see if it helps?

You should keep atleast 2 hours difference between Famotidine+sucralfate and prednisolone. They reduce gastric acid and because of that they reduce the amount of pred that is absorbed.
Besides that, pred is not indicated in severe infections ( but that can be ruled out by looking at the blood work ), glaucoma ( not the case) , and vaccinations ( not the case also )

I am probably impatient, But I do not see the meds doing him any good. He is not getting the nutrients he needs out of his food. I am not sure how to proceed with our vet. This morning he started eating on his own, I did not have to scruff him. I just put the syringe in his mouth and he would eat it. what came out of his mouth and dripped on the plate he ate on his own. I gave him 40cc of soup and he ate another 10cc that was on the plate. I just wish his body would digest the food and We could get some brown poop out of him. I we are getting is yellowish green poop seedy poop. I gave him about 40cc of SubQ a little bit ago. here is a pic of his latest poop.
